If God or the "universe" was to descend tonight and spoke to all of us and said " I will end all the world's suffering; ALL of it. But you all will have to get along and love each other for 1 year. No disrespecting each other, no judgements against each other, no prejudices...none of it. nothing but LOVE!" Could we do it? Could we actually put aside our petty differences for 1 year. Be honest.

Non-Believers before you get upset about me saying "universe" I just said that for the lack of a better word. My apologies in advance.

I believe it is do-able, what's depressing is so many people aren't willing to do it. I totally agree with you and I wish people would live as your question states. People would be so much happier God or God-less. :-)

well, that would be an unfair test. there's always gonna be someone with a bad temper who'd mess it up. could even be me. someone has a bad day, vents their irritation and the whole deal if off for the entire world. naw... couldn't be done. even with worldwide good intentions the stress of containing all negative emotions and the pressure to not blow the deal would have people going off like volcanoes in a matter of weeks.
PS. besides, if we humans could manage such a feat who'd need the god/universe to do anything? we'd already have gotten rid of 90% of all suffering without god/universe assistance.

Nope. And to be honest, it shouldn't be that way. It's the suffering, pain, and heartache that actually build the character of a person, not skimming through life having peace and tranquility all your days. You didn't learn to walk instantly, you had trial and error, you crawled, wobbley made it on your two feet, stumbled for a while, until you were able to walk as you do now. I needed my problems and pain, because I learn from these experiences, and can be strong should they come again, and to support others when it happens to them.

I highly doubt it. It is impossible, we would be able to achieve nothing without our differences, and I don't think god would set such a high price. Now acceptance-not love, but accepting that we are different and that, like it or not, we all have to muddle through life together-that would be more reasonable, but still, not sure if everyone could do it.

Well there's always that "sin" thing to tackle with in this one. People sin, it's in their nature. Romans 3 talks a good deal about that. All the world problems come from this unpreventable undenyable fact. People just make mistakes, and there's little we can do about it.
Basically if you stick that into the mix of your story, then mankind couldn't pull it off.

Would be nice, but all negative sides to human nature would have to vanish. People would slip up so easily... And might be tricky to get some middle eastern countries to actually love each other for a year.

No. I say this because fundamentalists(of any belief) would interpret it one way then see somebody else doing something they don't like and tell them or try to change them one way or another. Then there would be fighting and we end up loosing in the end.

I would hope that would be possible but I honestly do not think so. Unfortunately man is not made to do that, especially after being raised in completely different environments.

Which God for starters?
I have to assume you meant the Christian God, for that would be the majority of people who believe in "God."
If it was indeed the Christian God, I'd wonder why the guy who promoted the slaughter of unbelievers in his bible suddenly got alot more easygoing. And then I'd laugh hysterically.
