The love for your children or your spouse or your partner makes you understand that there is a God........
I read here once "I see the God in the eyes of my children".
Or is it just an illusion that belongs to love more than to religion?

"Comparative survey of churches and religions. AD 30 to 2200," names 19 major world religions, subdivided into 270 large religious groups, and many smaller ones. 34,000 separate groups have been identified worldwide among Christians alone.

These faith groups teach different belief systems. This naturally raises the question of where religious truth is to be found.

Many people regard their own denomination to possess total religious truth; and see other denominations to exhibit some error; other religions are considered to be in serious error, and some "cults" viewed as opposing the truth.

In the Old Testament God is recorded as punishing ancient Israelite individuals, and members of other tribes, for following the wrong religion, or deviating from "proper" religious practices. In some cases, the victims are viewed as having no right to continue living.

Israelites commit what would be termed genocides and "mass crimes against humanity" today.

I'd love to know, from a "non-Catholic" Christian, what are some passages from "Catholic" Bibles which do not match the most popular version of the Bible, known as the King James Version.

Please note: the deutero-canonical books, aka "apocrypha", are not the issue. Those were REMOVED, not added. Also note: Martin Luther tried to have Revelation removed too, unsuccessfully, of course.

So, I ask knowledgeable non-Catholics to step forward and answer: Exactly which verses were edited by the Catholic Church, and what did those verses say before they were supposedly edited?

non-answers, evaders, and diverters get a thumbs down.
Thanks. God bless =)

Athiest,
I have watched a debate between two sides. One that believes God exists and one that is blaspheming him. I am not trying to say tell you that you have to believe (As a creature of Free Will you have the right not to believe in God, as I have the right to believe) but why on Earth would you say He doesn't exist. I can understand someone saying that they have not recieved enough information to believe in him but I can't understand why someone would commit themselves to eternal damnation through such action.
example:
If you are hanging by a rope. One person is telling you that there is no gravity and to cut the line. The second guy is telling you that there is and if you cut it you will die. Which would you do? I can understand not having enough proof about gravity that you wouldn't believe the second but would you have enough trust in the first, that you would risk you life in such a feat?

Why would you do the same concerning eternity?

I see these terms used everywhere, but I don't know what they mean. Are they similar styles of food or different? What are the similarities and differences? Are they better for you than other types of foods or better than organic foods?

Matthew 6:1-4 - http://scriptures.lds.org/en/matt/6/1-4#1

This scripture has always been an enigma to me. We are supposed to serve others gladly, without even acknowledging to OURSELVES what we are doing (ie giving glory only to God).

It just came to me today, that this scripture is referring to having an attitude where love and service are so completely integrated into your being that you don't even thing twice about lending a hand... it just happens spontaneously (I guess that comes with practice).

When people say "Thank you" to you, you really feel that you have done nothing at all... and the praise aught to go to the One who has given you the heart that loves, the mind that comprehends, the energy with which to act, and possessions with which to make a difference in the lives of other people.

Is this what Jesus was talking about?
What is your perspective on this scripture?
How have you tried to implement this scripture in your life?

I realize that this isn't the "science" section, but since it's apparently deemed acceptable by so many to participants to bicker over "evolution *vs* creation" and whether or not evolution is scientifically valid, I want to see how everyone responds as this directly relates to the previously mentioned topic. I want to see who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't.

Do the Muslim terrorists pray?

I mean how can they pray peacefully, after killing so many innocent people.. like wouldn't their conscience hurt them? Woudn't they feel guilty to stand in front of God and pray as if nothing has happened?

Or do they even know what their religion is about?

PS: You need not be a terrorist to answer this question, I welcome all answers.

How do you reconcile these with your belief?

Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her, with tambourines and dancing.

1 Samuel 18:6-7:
6 When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes. 7 As they danced, they sang:
"Saul has slain his thousands,
and David his tens of thousands."

2 Samuel 6:16:
16 As the ark of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she despised him in her heart.
