This Q is based on Ephesians 1:3-14: "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ... In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ... In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding... In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit..." etc.

Do you have TWO addresses:- "I live in... [Plymouth, or wherever] and I live in Christ"?

(This Q is NOT about predestination!)

It isn't exactly hard to kill oneself, is it? Why would anyone attempt and not succeed?

A lot: many, perhaps many deceived by many shall come to deceive, and shall deceive many... a lot of ppl seem to get hung up on replacement theology, believe Jesus took our place, and God accepted such sacrifice.

But when I look into the will of God, repeated in Mt 9:13 from Hos 6:6 as a go figure what it meaneth, it's the same in both the OT and NT, and it flat out says God will have mercy, and not sacrifice; And the not part of it is not then, not now, not ever. The only true God never ever desired, nor ever took any pleasure in, any sacrifice at all, which is of the law. His Grace is merciful, void of sacrifice; And peaceful, void of division.

So I ask those believing a replacement theology, how does it compare to the will of God not to have sacrifice, backed up by two immutable things: God(Grace) can't lie(law) nor die(law)?

Perhaps only what began can end,
and perhaps only the law began,
for Grace has no begin nor end,
being the Eternal one of twain,
the Immortal one

I was told that doing something you knew would kill you is the same as killing yourself, and that there is no such thing as self-sacrifice.

I was told that by a church elder, but I don't think they realized the following.

Jesus knew they'd kill him, and he did it anyway, so isn't that suicide? And isn't that a sin?

My non-muslim brothers and sisters ,when you continue be positive towards the muslim community despite the occurence of terrorist attacks by certain misguided persons, the terrorists will fail to achieve their purpose because when people of any nation are united despite efforts by other persons to curb this unity with terrorism, the terrorism will get a tight slap on its face. ISLAM is a religion of peace and any terrorist in the guise of ISLAM is indeed an enemy of ISLAM. Please give your opinion and suggestions?

The Bible is very clear and explicit about prayer:
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. [Matthew 21:21]

We know, fron the many Christians who answer questions here, that if you believe in Christ, you will go to Heaven. We also know, from the Bible that if you believe in Christ, and you pray,

If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. [John 14:14]
Ask, and it will be given you. [Matthew 7:7]
Nothing will be impossible to you. [Matthew 17:20]

Therefore, if youpray for something, and you do not get it, you can't really be a believer in Christ, and you won't go to heaven, and, if you are a believer in Christ, you wil get anything you ask for, no matter how seemingly impossible.

Therefore, if you pray for something and don't get it, you must not be a true believer, and therefore you face eternal damnation. That stuff about "God always answers, but the answer is soemtines no" is not supported in scripture, is it?

Make sense?

Suppose there are 2 people who have accepted Christ as their Saviour. One does right for sometime and then does evil and dies during his evil deeds. The other does the exact same thing, but in a different order and dies during his good deeds. Would the first go to hell and the second to heaven simply because of the order in which they did it?

If athest say they are not a religeon then why come to the R&S section? No bashing please, I'm just curious and thought I might get an understanding as to why. I have not been on R&S much but the little bit I have has seem to be very negative toward people like me that love the Lord. I never bash someone because they are not like me but I have hesitated to ask questions here because I have read so many hate answeres toward christians from proclaimed athest.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying all athest and I know that a few bad apples and ruin the whole bunch because it's the same way with christians. Have I just been on when the few bad apples were here or do most athest really truly not like us christans? And if it has just been the few bad apples, boy I sure hope there not on right now so I can get an educated answer.

Thank you!

I dont literaly mean like a rockstar like the Rollingstones... but like a celebrity in a way?

I mean think about it like this... He was very influencial with the people around him... just like the celebrities of hollywood today. People looked up to him for guidance... people of today look up to celebrities for the latest trends... People crucified him when the going got tough.. like how society is looking down on celebrities that have "fallen from grace" just like Britney Spears.

Since more and more people now are turning away from religion and becoming atheists... are there more and more people now looking up at other people (celebrities) for an idol/for their role model?

When it comes down to whether which path would you rather follow in life... would you rather choose the path of your favourite celebrity to be socially rich and famous or the life of a man whos teachings are which got him killed in the but still heard off today. which one would you really choose?

Explain yourself

I am an Evangelical Christian, but do not believe the world is coming to an end.
I believe the world as we knew it has already changed.
We are already living in the post-apocalyptic age, with the prophecies of the Book of Revelations fulfilled and behind us.
Now we have to look to the future.
What would you call that type of belief?

I am being respectful in my question, so I assume and expect the answerers to be respectful in their answers too.

Here is my question:

Before you type any further, move your eyes from the monitor and look around you. A number of things, objects, equipments may be placed around the room where you are currently at, from the truly amazing electronic machines like the computer itself, a refrigerator, a T.V etc. to the minor everyday objects like, say, a pencil, a paperclip, a tableclock etc.

It is definitely true that each and every objects that you see has a creator or an inventor behind it, wouldn't you agree?

So why wouldn't a human body, something so complex and so amazing, have a Creator?

Or why wouldn't this beautiful planet with all the trees, mountains, oceans, animals etc. have a Creator?

(This is a piece of intellectual question obtained from a speech of the late Ahmed Deedat.)

arose on the 3rd day triumphant over death and that the only way to be saved is for us to believe this good news, repent and trust in what God did in Christ at Calvary to redeem us?

Apologies if that sentence is too short to encapsulate all the nuances of the gospel. Yahoo has its limits! I just want to see the extent of Christian unity on this core issue. Orthodox, R.Cs, Pentecostals, Anglicans, Evangelicals of every hue - come on and identify your group, please! I'm in the Reformed Presbyterian one.

This is NOT a Q about differences re. the finer points of the gospel but is about the extent of our unity on this essential doctrine. It's also NOT inclusive of what believers must do AFTER they've turned to Christ and away from their sin. I'm not looking for identifying marks of a Christian. This is NOT about denominational distinctives. So, do you agree this is the gospel, and if so (or not) what's your denomination?
