Fireball! My reference would be reading chapter 1-3 Revelations......It seemed he was only fully pleased with Smyrma and Philidelphia....I sure he will forgive these Churches but the two mentioned above seem to have it together.

Let me stand corrected Exodus!...I meant to say he was only fully pleased with 2 out of the 7 churches.....but none the less he was showing them there flaws and to repent from specific falseness.

In my opinion, I see the seven churches in Revelations a picture of many views. I see it as the growth and progress of the church during the new testament writing time from an on fire church to a neither hot of cold church. I see it as the church history from the beginning at the time of the resurrection of Jesus until today. I see it as a picture of almost any church organization that is newly organized that starts out right and Strong and then later gets to that neither hot or cold position. And I see it as a picture of the life of any and all believers as at first they are on fire with their first love and later seems to forget that it was Jesus who justified them as they take the view they can justify themselves.
Please I am not saying this does apply to all. but I see it a lot in my observation and I also catch myself too many times being guilty of the same. Thus I see the churches in Revelations as a good lesson and a picture in place for all to be reminded of the real truth that salvation is a gift, not earned and all must always be on guard. to know and remember our first love..

There are some theologians who maintain that the seven churches of Revelation represent an historic time line of church history from the first century through the end of time. Do your own investigation, make your own choice.

Yes, those Churches are symbolic of today's Churches.
The Bible tends to regularly sort things out like:
Light from darkness
Waters from land
Pure water from polluted water
Five wise virgins (lamps/oil)/five foolish virgins (lamps/no oil)
So the Religious Football Score is: 2 vs 5 (29% saved vs 71% going to heck)

You think that he was "fully pleased" with 5 of them? wow.
Are they symbolic to today? no and yes. they were real churches and had real problems, thus real letters sent to them, no symbolism there. But the Word is just as relevant to the churches today, we have the same situations going on today.
