The complexity of the universe and of us...
The DNA in our bodies that is the microscopic code to uniqueness from our parents and gives uniqueness to our children is over 75 miles long, and keeps working to grow, replace cells...
The earth stays in an orbit that allows us to live comfortably, and is not too far or too close to the sun.
That the ecosystem on Earth sustains life by having plants and animals that feed us throughout the world and are naturally watered throughout the world by water being brought to them in rain... that trees recycle harmful gases into life-sustaining ones...
That our bodies have the ability to see around us, hear sounds and understand language, enjoy the touch of another person and the taste of our food...
That we have the capacity to reason, choose our direction freely, use our skills to make a living and share ourselves with others in romantic love and in friendships...
God's image...the good things... kindness, generosity, patience, wisdom, gratitude...

he had not been God-therefore he died for us because he loved us-true?

2007-11-12 02:37:26 · 18 answers · asked by Plato 5

Then why did he ask " where are you Adam" and why did he fall for it when it came to Job . The Devil said of course he loves you, take away and he wont.
Then God killed his sons and daughters to make a point? Just to replace them later. Hell if I lost one of my children, having another would not be the same. I would not care how pretty.
And God is a jealous God ? , Is that not wrong?

All nations African, Chinese, Europeans, etc have traditional fairy stories. These stories were there before organised religion and before these people met, surely it is more realistic to believe in faries as they all knew about them, than a god which non of them had heared of until they were told.

LOL - I just asked one of these sorts a few minutes ago and thought it was amusing how I worded it after I looked at it again.

I drank too much coffee this AM and my brain is set to "stun"

Historical note: this is the first Star Trek reference I have EVER made, for those keeping track ;-)

I noticed this forum is called " Religion and Spirituality", why is 90% of the conversation about Christianity?

I think they would have a positive affect since OVER 75% of Americans are Christian.

Any thoughts?

Kill those who are not Christian or Jewish:
You must kill those who worship another god. Exodus 22:20
Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own. Deuteronomy 13:6-10
Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you. Deuteronomy 13:12-16
Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. Deuteronomy 17:2-7
Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest. Deuteronomy 17:12-13
Kill any false prophets. Deuteronomy 18:20
Any city that doesn’t receive the followers of Jesus will be destroyed in a manner even more savage than that of Sodom and Gomorrah. Mark 6:11
Jude reminds us that God destroys those who don’t believe in him. Jude 5

Ignorance is bliss. Christians should not practice free inquiry nor socialize with non Christians:
Don’t associate with non-Christians. Don’t receive them into your house or even exchange greeting with them. 2 John 1:10
Shun those who disagree with your religious views. Romans 16:17
Paul, knowing that their faith would crumble if subjected to free and critical inquiry, tells his followers to avoid philosophy. Colossians 2:8

Judge other religions for not following Christ:
Whoever denies “that Jesus is the Christ” is a liar and an anti-Christ. 1 John 2:22
Christians are “of God;” everyone else is wicked. 1 John 5:19
The non-Christian is “a deceiver and an anti-Christ” 2 John 1:7
Anyone who doesn’t share Paul’s beliefs has “an evil heart.” Hebrews 3:12
False Jews are members of “the synagogue of Satan.” Revelations 2:9, 3:9

Here are my two personal favorites:
Everyone will have to worship Jesus -- whether they want to or not. Philippians 2:10
A Christian can not be accused of any wrongdoing. Romans 8:33

In an interview with D.J. Grothe last week, Michael Behe defended his Intelligent Design belief. At the end of the interview he was forced to confess that Milaria evolved and must have evolved by the will of the designer. Why? He admitted that it must have been part of God's plan.

The Bible goes on an on about all sorts of things which we would consider absolutely trivial. If you don't believe me, try reading Exodus through Numbers.

If God hates abortion so much, why can't we find one condemnation of it in the Bible? Did he just forget? In fact the few passages that even remotely touch on the subject make it sound like abortion is just fine.

Are we supposed to kill or not? Was God ignorant? What did He know that we just haven't learned yet?

Suppose my brother has cancer, suppose it is God's Will that the cancer should go in remission. Suppose no one, absolutely no one, prays for my brother. Will his cancer go into remission? Please start your post with a yes or a no.

If you answer no, (the cancer will stay) explain how a lack of prayer will stop God's plan. If you answer yes (the cancer will go away) then explain to me why prayer matters at all.

The Bible says in 2 Peter 3:10 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

Christ is coming again. He is coming in power and great glory. He is coming as king of kings and Lord of Lords.

Do you live in anticipation of this event?

What spiritual preparations should we be making to prepare for the second coming of Christ?
