A 'prophet' is one who speaks by divine inspiration or as the interpreter through whom the will of God (or a god) is expressed. A prophet can also be considered the chief spokesperson of a cause or movement.
Like I stated in a previous answer in which you essentially asked the same thing, no one can know exactly WHY there were no female prophets among the Hebrew peoples in Biblical times. That is something to ask God when we get into His kingdom.
If there was one recorded in the Holy Books, would you respect her just as much as you do the men?...

I'd be leery of anybody who calls themselves a Prophet. Like disciple...it's supposed to mean one who is disciplined, many carry the title but do not walk the talk. Bayless Conley says it best.... if a prophet tells you to move to Alaska then you better take him with you or how will you know when to come back? Prophets edify the Church...they are never to be taken as fortune tellers so to speak and females can give a word of knowledge just like a male can

I believe that the definiton comes down to a person that is revealing God's word to his children. While we can all recieve personal revealation about what God want for us, a prophet is able to recieve is for everyone. And there have been female prophets, Anna is one mentioned by name in the New Testament, she declared the divinity of the baby Jesus. Please note that there were many prophets never mentioned by name in the Bible, merely refrenced as prophets.

Oh! but there were & are, Mostly it is because they are subjugated by their faiths, Take the case of Mary Magdeline, (The first "Chirtian" evengelist. ridiculed because she was a woman. It still goes on, Would the Mormons allow a female Prophet? do the Jehovahs? Does anyone other than Pagans/Wiccans allow true equallity?

Women have always been slaves to their men. That was the way of the world then. Today, much has changed in the civilized world, but not in the uncivilized religious world.

Miriam, Deborah, Huldah, Noadiah, Annah, the four daughters of Phillip.
Those are just from the Bible, and probably not all. Do you need more?

"Any woman who prays with her head unveiled dishonors her head. It is the same as if her head were shaven, for if a woman will not veil herself then she should cut off her hair. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaven , let her wear a veil. (1 Corenthians 11 :5).
Whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
(MATT 5:28-29).
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at HOME, good, OBEDIENT to their HUSBANDS... ------ (Timothy 2:005)
Likewise, ye wives, be in SUBJECTION to your own HUSBANDS. ----- (1PE 3:001)
Women should remain SILENT in the Church. They are NOT ALLOWED to speak, but must be in SUBMISSION, as the Law says. – (1 Corinthians 14:34)
"I permit NO woman to TEACH or have AUTHORITY over men". –( 1 Timothy 2:11-14)
