It wasn't the act of sex itself. It was a sin because he was according to the law supposed to bring a child into the world to bring on the line of his dead brother through his brothers widow. He could have said no and simply would have suffered dishonor and embarrassment from the people but decided he would have sex with her and spread his seed on the ground instead of getting her pregnant. So he gets the pleasure without the responsibility. This was what was sinful enough to make God strike him dead.

As far as other sins, you can see that the reason the sins in the Bible our sins outside of the fact they go against obeying God and his law, is the fact that all those sins bring destruction of some sort. For instance, sex outside of marriage has been known to cause heartache to men and women alike, each time they are with a partner and things go wrong it's like they lose a piece of themself. Another thing, if they have sex outside of marriage they are at a great risk for std's and pregnancy outside of marriage (possibly unwanted children.) God finds each life to be extremely valuable and doesn't want there to be such thing as unwanted children. Stealing is also obvious, you bring harm to another person by taking things from them that they earned.
Lying can truly cause pain. If you lie to someone and they find out the truth somewhere then you will see what I'm talking about and not only that but have you not ever felt guilty for telling someone something that isn't true.
I could go on and on....just think about it.

that one was a disobedience to God, but not having sex itself before marriage was in a different verse that said directly "don't do it" meaning it's a sin.

Adam and Eve had children - in order to reach the population we have today their offspring MUST have had sex with a brother / sister , mother/ father . Incest is a sin. Great work of contrdictory fiction that bible is !!!!!
Be thankful we didn't pick up Moby Dick as we all would be worshipping a big whale................

If you really consider what it means to sin you would understand that it's more or less things that are not beneficial to the survival of the human race.

Hmm, I believe that it's a sin to presume to speak for God.

I'm not christian, i'm an athiest, but I fail to see how murder is not a "sin".

ok, maybe if you were killing scientologists but that falls more under the category of euthenasia or putting a sick animal to sleep.

Its because he didnt LISTEN to God not because he spilled his seeds. God knows best, if he asked him to do something it was for a reason.

Well right. God gave us commandments and rules to follow to keep us safe, happy and healthy while here in this life, as well as how-to's on getting to Heaven.

Don't do it and you don't go lol

Are you refering to Onan?
You need to understand the kinsman-redeemer, and how it was meant to be.
As far as other sin, murder is nothing? Stealing?
Sin is not nothing...if it were nothing, Jesus would not have died on the cross for us. Our desperate situation, Christ's drastic solution.
