All nations African, Chinese, Europeans, etc have traditional fairy stories. These stories were there before organised religion and before these people met, surely it is more realistic to believe in faries as they all knew about them, than a god which non of them had heared of until they were told.

Yes of course I believe in fairies. But then I always like to think there's a part of stuff like that in life - it helps get through the days.

I certainly don't, but as a matter of interest Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes did.

In 1917 two young girls from Cottingley, cousins, astounded the world with photographs they had taken of them supposedly playing with fairies at the bottom of the garden.

Because they were so young, people would not believe that they were capable of such fakery.

But fakes they were, and Conan Doyle, a keen spiriualist, authenticated them, thereby perpetuating the myth for many more years.

The two girls always claimed they were genuine throughout their lives but did in old age own up, they had already been exposed as fakes.

The lesson is there, it doesn't matter how clever people are, they are still capable of being duped by clever spiriualists etc.

Fairies play a big role in the Northern Tradition, yes, and my home is infested with them. If anyone can tell me how to make them go away please share.

Just a thought, but what if they are folk memories of the time when we weren't alone and had other species of man as neighbours.
