The Bible says in 2 Peter 3:10 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

Christ is coming again. He is coming in power and great glory. He is coming as king of kings and Lord of Lords.

Do you live in anticipation of this event?

What spiritual preparations should we be making to prepare for the second coming of Christ?

The Lords coming is very soon, and we must not take it jokingly.
Christ Jesus has paid the price for my sins and now i am saved. I believe in him and am saved. And for his second coming we should do what he asked us to do. The Great commission of spreading the word of the Lord to others.

There's good new for all who are reading this. You are free. You don't have to pay the price of your sins. Coz Jesus shed his blood for you and has paid your price. You just need to accept his love and forgiveness and your life will be changed forever. My life has changed, and now i live a victorious and happy life and with the assurance that if i die this moment, i will live eternally in the presence of the Lord.

And this is true he will be coming any moment and we should all be ready to receive him. Do you remember the parable of the talents.
God has blessed each one of us different talents. Have we used his talents for his glory or are we like the person who dug his talents and did not utilise it.
I hope this should have answered your question.

This is a tough question Gilbert. I see from most of the answers you have gotten that many people think they are ready. What does God say? The Parable of the Virgins in Matthew pertains to the end-time Church of God. All the Virgins knew to expect the return of the Messiah, but they were not all ready when He finally did. Indications are that they all thought they were ready. If this parable actually represents the Church (and I believe it does), then only half (1/2, .5) of the Church is going to be ready for the return of the Messiah.

Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Now, to answer on a personal level, am I ready? I feel that it would be pretty arrogant of me to say "YES", as much as I want to, and even as much as I want the Kingdom of God to come. I know myself way too well, and, that being so, I know I have a long way to go before I can ever be ready to stand before my Savior.

Again, that being so, that is what grace is all about. It really does not matter if I am ready or if anyone else is ready, God will have those whom He has chosen where He wants them when He wants them there.

Therefore, since it is really up to God, there is only so much any one of us can do on a spiritual level. But what CAN we do?

First, we need to do the basics, the minimum service required of us:

Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Luke 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

Then we need to really study the Torah and the New Testament to see just how broadly the Law (Torah) is supported by or revolves around the basis of the two great commandments:

Matthew 22:34 and the Pharisees, having heard that he did silence the Sadducees, were gathered together unto him; 35 and one of them, a lawyer, did question, tempting him, and saying,
36 ‘Teacher, which is the great command in the Law?’ 37 And Jesus said to him, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thine understanding— 38 this is a first and great command; 39 and the second is like to it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself;
40 on these—the two commands—all the law and the prophets do hang.’

Everybody seems to stop before they read verse 40. Yeshua is saying, again, that all the Law revolves around understanding these two commandments ( which are found in the Torah by the way).

After we learn the basics, we need to apply them:

Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

Heb 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.

These are not things which come naturally to any of us. But as we learn these things, we need to do one more thing on an ever increasing basis:

Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

From the above scripture, would you conclude that we hope but God knows?

You should try living in the real world and then you would not be wasting your time leading a miserable exuse for a life waiting for some fantasy return of a man who never existed...

How old are you, 6?

There really are some gullible people in the world. Ever thought of reading a book, other than that man-made book of myth, superstition, bigotry, innacuracy, contradiction and lies you call the Bible?

I'm guessing you're from America.

I'm prepared to report this as preaching, but I won't. I'm not a report-monkey.

I'm prepared to roll my eyes. If fear is the only sales pitch you have, you're failing, hands down.

I sure do. All the uneducated people will be gone.

The world will be a lot smarter afterwards and we can use stem cells to cure cancer and MS.
