It's definitely not a waste of money. Learning about other religions is always worthwhile. On my shelf, I have a Koran, a Bible, Books of Mormon in multiple languages, as well as excerpts from the holy books of other religions. I enjoy glancing through them from time to time.

You can get a free Book of Mormon by visiting http://www.mormon.org/bookofmormon

Actually it contains quite a bit of knowledge. The people who are answering against it, I can guarantee have never read it. There opinion would be quite different if they had. You can get a free copy from missionaries or possibly from lds.org. It is always a good idea to educate yourself and be constantly looking for answers.

The Book of Mormon is claimed to have been a novel written by a Pastor Spaulding and stolen by Rigdon,a confrere of J Smith, and the handwriting of Spaulding was confirmed in the copy claimed by j Smith to be his translation of the Golden Tablets.
