or Muhammed? or Confucious?

How about Jesus?

Obviously, gross generalization is wrong. But how can we discuss the pros and cons of religion and its practitioners if we don't generalize a little bit?

By being brainwashed by the church Christians thwart their brain development. This has been going on for centuries. Over time they are getting less and less intelligent through a process of selective breeding. In centuries to come will they devolve their brains so much that they revert back to apes, thus proving the very thing they have so blindly believed?

Well, I was raised Catholic, and like Catholicism (Just because all of the rituals, and how steeped in history it is, I'll always like it) but lately, I've felt that you don't need a book, nor an institution to tell you how to not only believe, but how to behave.
In fact, I just believe that there is something out there, and in the Catholic Saints...but ultimately, religion is up to you to discover it, not have someone tell you.
Would that be agnostic?
Because I also believe that nature is the truth, the only truth...I dunno. I just don't believe in how people (Especially the Fundies) use religion to **** everyone over.

My best friend has lost a lot of people in his life, including his mother and father, both of them tragically right before his eyes. His dad when he was in his teens and now his mom. He doubts God so much, and he is questioning why death always happens to him and why his mother had to suffer. If God is so great why didn’t he make it painless for her...I don’t know how to answer these questions he has. I try to tell him about God's mercy and how he wants us to have faith through these things but he always has a come back. Like why does god make people suffer anyways...

Any help I appreciate it.

The laws of thermodynamics state"Energy can be changed from one form to another, but it cannot be created or destroyed" does this mean that something must happen to our energy at the moment we die. Will we ever be able to scientifically proove there is an afterlife? Just the thought of non-existance sends shivers down my spine.

I have heard it said that the Bible is holy. The Bible is the Word of God and is infallible. But there is only one thing in or out of this universe that is perfect. There is only one that is infallible, God. How can a mere object be holy? Even the bible itself often condemns idolatry. Would this not apply to worship of the same scriptures you read from? How could you not call such praise like "infallible" and "holy" worship?

The bible was penned by humans. The books within were voted by men to be included and some books were voted to be kept out. How different would our bible seem today if those old men had voted differently? This doesn't sound very divine to me. Sure, it might be reasonable to say that God had some influence upon the writers. There is some great advice within the pages of this fascinating collection. I wish more people would follow the path of Love. But to call it holy and perfect? It is just an object. Doesn't that mean the bible has become an idol?

I don't like doing any kind of propaganda but I thought it would be interesting to get some opinions about an e-mail I just received.
All of the e-mails I receive are subject to scepticism on my part, you know, the ones that talk about sick children, for example. This one in particular appears authentic and talks about the experience of a Christian minister.

What do you think about his story?

This is the URL: http://www.charityadvantage.com/missiongateministry/AllahorJesus.asp

The story is the first section and it won't take you more than two minutes to read.

Thank you.

am I morally required to?

If I stop you, I have violated your self-determination.

If I do not stop you, however, you will be severely burned, possibly disfigured or maimed.

Stopping you will cost me nothing except a few calories to lift my arm and physically stop you.

So considering the cost is trivial to stop you, and the consequences of not stopping your are as good as allowing you to maim or harm yourself...

Should I stop you?

(And if so, how is this God fellow any different who would allow us to supposedly choose to go to Hell when he could stop us at no cost to himself...?)

According to christian theology, satan is the adversary and there is no greater evil. In many instances on this forum, christians refer to pagans and wiccans as satanic, and insist that their deities are really satan or his demons in disguise.

Why is it alright to express this, but its not appropriate to draw a comparison between the christian god and Adolf Hitler? Someone likening your god to Hitler is no different than you accusing someone else's god of secretly being the devil. Hitler is probably the epitome of human evil in most people's eyes.

What's the difference, christians? What makes one okay and the other not?

This question is mostly for atheists but they wont read a question unless they try and make fun of other religions. But here it goes.

Atheists, you believe god doesn't exist right? Well if god didn't do it who did. You say the big bang or whatever right? Well how did all those galaxies and molecules and that other stuff get their in the first place? Did it evolve from other stuff and even if it did how did that stuff get their? And evolution? That is very unlikely. I believe organisms can evolve to a certain extent to fit their environment or situation, but evolving from a fish to a human? That is just crazy I mean really. Now of course I'm either going to get reported or suspended. But honestly to any atheist answering this question(not trying to take away free speech or anything) but how about answering this question logically and not just bashing me because i'm a christian.
