I think you would find all decent people regardless of faith or lack of faith would find it appalling .
What a shame these idiots tarnish the name of all good Christians .

Yes. Not that I'm against people exercising their right to protest. I've been on protest lines before. But there's a time and place for such actions, and in my opinion, funerals aren't it. Grieving families at funerals should be left in peace.

Yes, I've seen that lady on you tube & read about Fred Phelps.
I know exactly what your talking about, it's disgusting.

They should be sued for causing mental anguish.
Or Imprisoned for being a danger to society,
(which they are if you count the mental destruction they cause as being a danger, children attend funerals for goodness sake.

It's not even a real protest (as in a real issue) that "church" is just sick.

Yes, it is morally repulsive, unfortunately, they do have a legal right in the country of the United States to be jerks. If we start limiting where and when people can exercise their right to free speech, where will it stop? If they get too loud and obnoxious, arrest them for disturbing the peace. But if they are protesting in an orderly and calm manner, they have the right to be jerks that way.

Protesting at funerals is the lowest form of depravity I know about. These people that protested against a person that died for the country that gave the people the right to protest has gone too far, in my lowly opinion.

Even most animals respect their own dead.

I believe that it is VILE and DISGUSTING!

And that the people at that "church" should be ASHAMED of themselves.

Would it be too much to hope that just one of them reads R&S and knows how DISGRACEFUL they look in the eyes of the public?

All I can add is: They are LUCKY that the protest was in Maryland and NOT in Texas. Or maybe they figured they'd be safer in Maryland than here (or in any of a number of other states).

I do.. I think those people are corrupt and damaged goods. They are ignorant, egotistical, and down right bull-headed to go with the bullshit they spew. They give the entire Christian religion a bad name, but so do all the other ignorant and foolish people that are also spotted around the religion [mind you, I'm not stating all Christians are like that].

We have had a lot of discussion about that here on R&S, and we all seem to agree that the actions of Westboro Bap. were hateful and disgraceful.

When Fred Phelps finally goes home to oblivion, I hope those he has harmed along the way will gather to protest at his funeral and laugh at his family as they attempt to grieve.

I think that they are sick and they should be thrown in jail. They are not Christians and they are only doing this to make Christians hated in this Country. I hope that God will judge them severely and quickly.
