Often I have trashed an individual for terrible behaivior, ethics, or something else and have been told that I am attacking Jesus and not the individual. However, although I am an atheist, I have the utmost respect for the mythical character Jesus represents. So... are you?

why do you confess your sins to a preist. When that is between you and God the preist cant save you or forgive your sin so i was just curious thats all. Jesus said " i am the way,the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

God is a spirit so why do people believe when we go into heaven god will be flesh and blood? I believe alot of people get caught up in image.

In my philosophy class my teacher brought up the nature of God. What makes God other than flesh?

My answer was....

His Flesh was Jesus Christ
His Mind his Soul the Holy Spirit
and His Spirit is himself

Just like God we have 3 parts but we are all one
When we depart from the earth we will let go of our mind and our body.

He said it was an ignorant answer.

What do you think? I thought I put alot of thought into it

People were waiting for Christ, our savior. the one who would make all things right, they waited for him for thosands of years. since Adam and Eve's time, every once and a while god would talk to a single man (noah, abraham etc.)about him (christ, his son) and his coming. when he finaly came people were dissapointed to know he was leaving us again to wait another 2 thousand years or maybe even more. so, how much more are we going to wait?
1,000,000 years?

I was raised as a Christian and am fully aware of their beliefs and have read the Bible from cover to cover so I do know what is in it. Why do people think that if you don't agree with any of it that you are being ignorant?

Mahatma Gandhi considered Jesus one of his main teachers and inspirations for nonviolent resistance, saying "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
How come the Non-christian Indians were more christ like in their freedom struggle against christian british rule?

An atheist doesn't believe in the existence of God... but does this prevent an atheist from believing that we are all spiritually connected in some way?

I mean, for example, like minded people recognise same by way of a very brief encounter.

Is the word "Spiritual" very broad? It doesn't just mean ghouls and pixies or sommat does it?

Okay...I have went to a catholic school for 8 years now, and for the past 3 years, I have been trying to find these songs that I grew attatched to at the old catholic school I was at for 5 years. The first one went something like:

Our God, is an awesome God
He reigns with power and might
Our God is an awesome God

or something like that, my memory's not really clear about that song.

The second song is a lot more clearer in my memory.
It went something like:

Open my eyes, Lord
Help me to see your face
Open my eyes, Lord
Help me to see.

Open my ears, Lord
Help me to hear your voice
Open my ears, Lord
Help me to hear.

Open my heart, Lord
Help me to love like you
Open my heart, Lord
Help me to love.

And the first, shall be last
And our eyes are open
And we'll hear like never before
And we'll speak in new ways
And we'll see God's face
In places we never known..

Open my eyes, Lord
Help me to see your face
Open my eyes, Lord
Help me to see.

Why do many people believe that babies and children are incapable of sin before they get to a certain (yet to be determined) age? Would that mean God is lying by saying that?

I saw where a man had been ran over by a car when he went to check his mail. The officers on the scene of the accident had to keep chasing off the man's dog, who kept going over to the body, laying its head on his chest and whining. The scene was terrible, but the actions of the animal made more people shed tears than the death did.

Personally I love a good argument... or even a not so good one for that matter. The only thing I cant stand is people who expect everyone to agree with them...

On what grounds can they jusify their presence in India, in light of the fact that the 1947 partition was made on "religious grounds". The whole purpose of partition was so that Islamic civilisation of the Indian subcontinent did not want to be in a Hindu dominated country. It was also so that Hindus and Muslims could live in peace seperately. Hindus agreed to lose thousands of acres of lands so that we could live in a muslim free country and yet despite that to this day we have not only a muslim minority but the world's second largest muslim population!

On what basis can they justify their presence in our country???

I accept that India is a secular democracy and that they have a legal, political, social and constitutional right to be here, but do you agree that how far they have a MORAL RIGHT in highly questionable???

well i have this really close bestfriend we both made a pact to ourselves and families to remain chaste untill we're married.
she's a muslim which helps, but she says that muslims aren't allowed to masterbate???
okie i get the insertion part(fingering) but how about clitoral stimulation???
i find it odd...youg women aren't allowed to feel or somehow openly talk about sex..and when they get married everybody expects them to know everything...and they usually get married at a young age.

Why do many people today choose to believe that he is only good, loving, kind, forgiving, etc when jealousy and rage do not equal any of those things? Are they trying to say that God was lying in the OT and never meant any of those things, at the same time "the Bible has no errors whatsoever"?

I have just about finished a really good set of lectures on Paul and have formed my own opinions, but I was wondering what most think of him.

To say the least he was a pretty controversial person and there have been many different hypothesis drawn from his influence on christianity. Everything from a con man, to someone who for all intents and purposes hijacked christianity, to a loyal apostle and everything in between.

Just wanted to hear some opinions

Cheers
JMS

Why do you keep answering the questions of atheists who can't accept someone else's point of view? What's the point of getting into a debate with people who you can see by their questions are so full of it they won't listen to anyone else?
