what about the fourth commandment? Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
should we forget the commandment God said to remember?

kitty kat i don't get your answer.
the Bible says that Jesus kept all of the Ten Commandments John 15:10 including His Sabbath Luke 4:16, and we are to do the same if we love Him John 14:15. if you are supposed to obey commandments that are "carried over" where do you find the third commandment carried over in the n.t.? the principle is there, but i can't find it.

haha, I guess this is a trick question because if you believe God wants you to keep the Ten Commandments than you must believe He wants you to keep His seventh day Sabbath, after realizing this and that Jesus and His disciples kept the Sabbath thirty years after His resurrection in acts people usually have to "blot" out all the Ten Commandments and call them Moses' Law
Romans 16:26: God is Eternal Psalm 111:7-8: The law is Eternal Luke 18:19: God is Good Romans 7:12: The law is Good
John 4:24: God is Spiritual Romans 7:14: The law is Spiritual Deuteronomy 32:4: God is Just Romans 7:12: The law is Just Psalm 145:17: God is Righteous Psalm 119:172: The law is Righteous 1 John 3:3: God is Pure Psalms 19:8: The law is Pure Matthew 5:48: God is Perfect Psalm 19:7: The law is Perfect I John 4:8: God is Love Romans 13:10: The law is Love I John 1:5: God is Light Proverbs 6:23: The law is Light Psalms 48:1: God is Great Hosea 8:12: The law is Great Deuteronomy 32:4: God

Thank you. You saved me from wasting my points asking the same question. Imagine how different this world would be if we observed the sabbath. No one working. Family and friends all together. Do things as a family, you spend time appreciating the things most people don't have time for or take for granted. We would all be able to praise the lord in our own way with people we love. That was the idea of the sabbath. Imagine how good that would be.

Even in the early history of the Israelite nation they recognized that this commandment was impossible to keep at all times. There were professions that were occasionally required to work on the Sabbath (priests for starters, but also soldiers, doctors, nursemaids, etc...).

The intention of the commandment is clearly stated--to provide a day of rest. In turn, these people were still guaranteed one day free of their duties so that they could rest and worship, even if it wasn't the official Sabbath.

God said:

"Do what thou wilt, this shall be the law,
love is the law, love under will.

Depends if you believe all the bollocks that was inserted into the bible by the romans to control the masses.
Why preech something you don't agree with, that goes against all your feelings, and all what you want to do.
I believe in jesus, but you cant believe everything thats written in a book thats been translated a hundred times.
Its like chineese whispers.

No. Jesus Christ fulfilled the law (the Old Testament which includes the Ten Commandment) for us so that we who are in Christ do not have to obey the law:

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes

As Christians we are justified by faith as such faith has come to us we are no longer under the tutor ie the law:

Galatians 3:24,25 the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. After faith has come we no longer under the tutor.

Jesus took away the first (the Old Testament) to establish the second (The New Testament). Christians do not have to obey what has been taken away:

Hebrews 10:9,10 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.

The children of Israel under Moses obey the law of Moses (the Old Testament) but Christians saved by Jesus Christ obey grace and truth of the New testament that came through Jesus Christ:

John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Christians who are led by the Spirit are not under the law:

Galatians 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

If Christians love others they fulfilled the law:

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself"

If Christians do the works of the law they will subject themselves again to the curse that Jesus Christ has already redeemed them from:

Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse, for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

When Jesus came he wiped the slate clean from the old testement meaning that those were no longer the laws. However, 9 of the 10 commandments were reinstated by him during his life. Guess which one wasn't? Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy! That should explain your question. God bless you.

No you get to pick and choose, just like everything else in the Bible.

The only people who get punished for not following gods law to the letter are homosexuals. Everyone else gets to choose what works for them.

It's not like Jerry Falwell really loves his neighbors so there's a prime example. And since all holy men work on Sunday they ignore the keep the Sabbath holy rule as well. And Jerry Springer wouldn't have a job if anyone respected the adultery rule.

Sin at your leisure. Jesus already paid for it. You can repent on your death bed and you'll be fine.

You are right. Jesus carried over 9 of them which became a part of the New Testament but keeping the sabbath isn't one of them.

And there isn't any reason why we can't keep the other 9 except people don't want to. Once you think you can't do something, you probably won't.

The commandments were and are for Jews (613 of them), not Christians. The only thing others are obligated to keep are the Noahic laws:

1) to establish courts of justice;
2) not to commit blasphemy;
3) not to commit idolatry;
4) not to commit incest and adultery;
5) not to commit murder;
6) not to commit robbery;
7) not to eat flesh cut from a living animal.

That takes care of it for Gentiles; no sabbath there.

Why did he spend time giving them out if no one was obligated to keep them? From the rest of the Bible, he's an all or nothing guy so I don't see why he would make an exception here.

Of course! It is one of the main things that a Christian should do! Breaking one of them will put u at risk in being in "deep trouble with God", unless he forgives you. All ten are the main fountain moral standards of a Christian life.
