Somebody I know says that we should think of God as a woman, and pray to Her, and She will help us. It seems a bit weird to have a lady God.

"No army is big enough to conquer the world, but faith alone can overturn the universe."

-No idea who said it.

I heard about a church that had the following t-shirts:

On the front, it says "I Upped My Contribution."

And on the back, it says "Up Yours!"

I thought it was hysterical, but I'm not a church-goer and I was wondering how those of you who attend church would feel about that.

they say robot sex is about 5 years away....a robot so lifelike, you would be able to fall in love with it, and want to have sex with it.

they also say that by 2050 < i think> you will be able to marry your robot.

Im gay, i cant get married...and im not even ok with this. Its not a human, you shouldnt be able to marry it.

Thoughts?

While all others will be in hell to rot for an eternity? Isn't that passing a judgment and playing the role of God?

Yesterday somebody asked "Why do atheists seem to be obsessed with with converting others to their 'religion'?"

I replied "I don't give a damn what you believe - trust me! But why shouldn't I involve myself in these discussions? I have an alternative POV and it's just as valid as yours."

And Yahoo gave me a violation! So what are they saying - my POV is NOT as valid as the "religious" people? Is it because I used the word "damn"? I mean, I thought for a while that they had actually gotten better about this, but this is the third "violation" I've received in as many days that is NOT a violation of anything in their TOS.

If god gives us freewill and judges us by our actions... then by making certain immoral acts illegal, aren't we thwarting your god's will?

I mean, by making prostitution, or gay sex, or doing drugs illegal, aren't you taking away people's freewill? By having criminal courts and jail aren't you judging others? Shouldn't that be left to your god?

It seems to me that if christians truly believed in their god, then they wouldn't want to make anything illegal or punish anyone.

There is a girl, 25 years old who has become friends with me. I'm old enough to be her mother and have been a christian for about 18 years. I offered to do a Bible study with her. She is from a mormon background and is confused from that. She has a drug and alcohol addiction and has tried to commit suicide many times. She goes to church every Sunday pretty much, but is living as though she hasn't given her life to the Lord. I told her I would do this study with her, but I am also going to make sure she is serious about it. I'm seriously praying about this. Do you have any suggestions about where we should start? I ask the nay sayers to just leave this one alone and don't waste my time answering please. Thank you, and God Bless.

I am ex-mormon, so 98 % of the Bishops (pastor's kids) always turned out to be naughty it seemed. Maybe it was the stress or the need to be so perfect or something, they were just the kids that rebelled so much, so now that I am christian, I have only been to one christian church and the pstor's kids (all 8 of them) seem to be flying straight. I am plesantly surprised, but I have only been to one christian church (non-denominational-calvinist) church, so what is your denomination and how are the pastor's kids in your church? I am not trying to diss Pastor's kids, just wondering I guess, psychologically speaking.

of the $100 million it took to renovate a *church* of his will make him less popular?
Also, for the believers: what do you think of his church having no religious symbol but an electronic display of the american flag?
Isnt that secular?

Thanks a bunch

i do find this one aspect of the lds religion interesting, prophets and apostles.

1 Cor. 12: 28 God hath set some in the church . . . prophets.
Eph. 4: 11 he gave some, apostles, and some prophets.
Eph. 2: 20 built upon . . . apostles and prophets.
Eph. 3: 5 revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets.
Eph. 4: 11 he gave some, apostles, and some prophets.

also many say there were no more prophets after Christ

but what about Agabus, Judas and Silas?

Acts 13: 1
1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

Acts 15: 32-33
32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.
33 And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

what about john the revelator?

Have you ever had an angel experience or know someone that has?

I really believe they are with you and in some case they will be sent to help you through life.

I believe in God and all the amazing things he does.

(this Q inspired by some kid's homework question in another category)

without gravity:
- the universe would not exist and would never have been formed as nothing would come together
- no galaxies, planets, moons, stars...or life
- if gravity were turned off today, all life would cease and the universe would turn into an enourmous debris field as all matter seperated from what it is currently attached to.

Gravity is the all powerful force that brought about life and has the power to end it if it so chooses to call in sick.
