I am ex-mormon, so 98 % of the Bishops (pastor's kids) always turned out to be naughty it seemed. Maybe it was the stress or the need to be so perfect or something, they were just the kids that rebelled so much, so now that I am christian, I have only been to one christian church and the pstor's kids (all 8 of them) seem to be flying straight. I am plesantly surprised, but I have only been to one christian church (non-denominational-calvinist) church, so what is your denomination and how are the pastor's kids in your church? I am not trying to diss Pastor's kids, just wondering I guess, psychologically speaking.

By the way, I was never a pastor's kid (bishop's kid in the mormon church) but in a mormon sence I turned out pretty bad, I went astray from the LDS church and got saved.

You really can't make such a generalization of all BK's. Bishops only serve for a few years (at least, in all the places I've been). Their children have ranged from all grown up with kids of their own, to our bishop now, with a toddler and all under 12. AND very well behaved!

And growing up Protestant, I've seen PK's go the entire spectrum.

Bishops are people, and pastors are people and you can't generalize.

I'm LDS and only know one kid (of a member of the stake presidency) that went off the deep end. All the bishops' kids I've known were good kids. But we're in NH, where Latter-day Saints are a minority, so I think that helps the kids behave, because they know misbehavior would be very visible. I'm not sure if that would be different in a heavily LDS area or not.

Did you know that 99% of all lies start with a statistic! :)

98% is way off the mark from my experiences. I won't quote you a statistic, because I don't know (just like you don't), however I don't think you really notice when a Bishop has good kids, only when they have bad ones. So, nearly all the bishop's kids that you NOTICE are bad. It's a matter of perception more than reality.

I'm a Pastor's kid, there were six of us and we really all turned out well. I do give most of the credit to my Mother. Dad a Baptist Preacher, tended to be unyielding and unreasonable, if it wasn't for our Mothers patience and ability to listen and trust. I think we would have turned out differently. She counter balanced Dad's authoritarianism very nicely. She was the perfect blend of gentleness and strength. She was strong enough to stand up do him, don't get me wrong they adored each other, but she didn't take any of his stuff.

I think most pk's go wrong because they rebel against the their parents, often to show peers that they aren't goody goodies. Also a Pastor wants his kids to be perfect, what kid needs that pressure? At least one of the parents should be an advocate for the kids. Usually the responsibility fall on the Pastors spouse.. My Mother was our advocate and you know...to this day Dad credits her completely for the way all us kids turned out.

i am a Free Methodist. My Pastor's kids are grown and married with kids that are like 4-8 or so. they are amazing people but i dont think their husbands are saved. at least one's isnt. my youth pastor has three little girls. one is 1 1/2. one is 5 and the other 7. the 7 year old is a super genius. i know him very well and am always at his house. he stresses to his daughter,(the ones in school) that they be above reproach. because they are pastor's daughters they need to hod themselves above other people because they will be judged more harshly. i think in alot of ways pastor's kids turn because alot of pastors are so strict and uptight that the kids never experience what other people have.

I'm LDS, my bishops kids are actually pretty cool kids. One's kind of popular, but she's very nice and the other is HILARIOUS and treats me very nice. :) I think some kids are bad because they want to rebel. It's just natural.

Quite honestly, in a church the size of ours......I've never met his kids.

I go to First Baptist Church of Orlando......which consists of about 14,000 members.

But in my old church before we moved here......there were about 40 members. And the pastor's kids were well-behaved and good mannered....and well-versed in Scripture.
