DC: MUSLIMS REACH OUT TO CHRISTIANS - TOP
Gregg Krupa, Detroit News, 10/11/07

Dozens of Muslim leaders from around the world will release the text of a letter to Christian leaders today in Washington that outlines proposed areas of understanding between the faiths and urges a search for "common ground."

Addressed to Pope Benedict XVI and the major leaders of Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Evangelical, Anglican, Orthodox churches and other Christian sects, the 29-page letter offers interpretations of both the Quran and the Bible on the love of God, love of neighbor and other spiritual concepts that are similar in Christianity and Islam.

I was raised as a Christian, and whilst i could overlook the many gaping chasms of inconsistency in the so called word of God, I could never fully accept this aspect of the incarnation of Christ.

I mean Catholicism. For the record, I am not a Catholic, nor have I ever been a Catholic, and was even raised in a mildly anti-catholic environment. But serious, how can you fundamentalist bible-thumping zeal-driven born-againers deny that they are the only real Christians? They are the rock Jesus chose for his foundation--it's a matter of semi-historical record. Plus, if Jesus actually had any true occult powers and magic items, it seems pretty likely they would have ended up in the corrupt hands of the Vatican. Unless they managed to be hidden away by some of the obscure, ancient sects of Middle Eastern Christians.

I'm usually overwhelmed with Osama this and Amadinejad that, terrorizing this, blowing up that. I was just wondering if there are any Muslims who preach peace. I'm talking about people in the political, religious, or famous individuals who practice the Muslim faith
I don't count Yusuf Islam as he was for Salman Rushdie being killed or anybody else who thinks it's all-right to respond to an apostate with murder.

I also don't count any individuals who are part of the Nation of Islam as that's a whole 'nother issue in itself

Thanks in advance

I am not trying to change your faith at all... but I have two important questions (well two for now lol).

1. What is you opinion about an Australian study that proved JW's were more likely three times more likely to be diagnosed as suffering from schizophrenia and nearly four times more likely from paranoid schizophrenia than the rest of the population at risk
Source : http://www.bibletopics.com/biblestu...

2. I have read the publication called "My Book of Bible Stories" that was given to my sister-in-law for her to read to her child, which horrified me . Some of the things I read about sexual relations between males and females, angels and men, touching each other's genitals and so on. This book is aimed at small children, as the Watchtower site says in the publications area of the site ~ http://www.watchtower.org/e/publica...
Do you think this is right to teach a young child sexual concepts at such an age, regardless of religion?

Is 2011 AD the most probable year for the return of Jesus Christ and the end of the world, ie., Judgement Day?
The worldwide flood that destroyed all life on earth except for Noah, his family, and the animals in the ark occurred in 4990 B.C. In 2 Peter 3 God refers back to this flood and then transitions to the destruction of the universe by fire. In verse 8 God says, "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." This is interesting because God told Noah to get into the ark 7 days before He brought the worldwide flood (Genesis 7:4).

Multiplying 7 X 1000 = 7000 years (1 day=1000 years). Then 7000 years + 4990 BC = 2011 AD (year "0" must count for 1 year). Is this the year Christ will return as the "Lion of the tribe of Judah" to rapture the saints, destroy the universe bringing judgment on the ungodly, and create a new Heaven and Earth?

Before you answer, remember God told Abraham and Lot before He destroyed Sodom + Gomorrah.

**PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT STATING A DAY NOR HOUR; JUST The YEAR.

Im watching the Da VInci code right now and it just keeps bringing up this question.. why is it so hard for people to belive that Jesus was capable of fathering a child? As its said he died for our sins, what if that is considered as one aswell? Ultimately he was MAN! and until he met his death he was a mere human
any insights?

When I say this, what I mean is you cannot PROVE OR DISPROVE the existence of God, so to say there is NO God is not a fact. You are relying on faith, which is ironic because atheists are not supposed to believe in faith.

There is evidence for God though. We have the Bible. Just look all around you. Look how complex life is.

So, atheists, cite your source (NOT guess work) on why you don't believe. Where is your SCIENTIFIC evidence of there being NO God?

The point I'm trying to make is that atheism requires faith too.

If it was common knowledge to everyone (as so many non-LDS Christians seem to think) that there was no marriage in heaven, then why did the Saducees even ask the question in the first place?

I mean, I would think that, if they asked it knowing that NO one believed in it, then why didn't Jesus say something like "That's a stupid question!" If they asked the question, it must have been because someone believed in marriage in the resurrection. They asked it as if it were something taken for granted by someone. They didn't ask, would there be marriage in the resurrection, they asked which of a woman's seven husbands would be her husband in the resurrection. Which tells me that someone believed in marriage in the resurrection. It was an assumption on their part that marriage did continue in the resurrection.

BEST Answer : That comes from the Talmud. This is rabbinical speculation on the punishment Jesus will receive according to his acts of leading Jews away from the Torah, and being a false prophet.
This is what Jesus did, and was.

…..I will tell you that it is your choice to curse the Jews or to bless the Jews. By cursing the Jews, you and your family will be cursed as well, according to the word of God. You can choose to believe this or not, and act accordingly, it is your choice.

"We were convinced that the people needs and requires this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out."
Adolf Hitler, in a speech delivered in Berlin, 24 October 1933

Hitler stated: "Christ was the greatest early fighter in the battle against the world enemy, the Jews . . . The work that Christ started but could not finish, I--Adolf Hitler--will conclude."

"Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord."
Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, Ralph Mannheim, ed., p. 65, New York: Mariner Books, 1999

"Liberalism is a disease of the mind that weakens and corrupts human beings" - Adolf Hitler, 1939

Many times Althaus explained to Christians his preference for the Third Reich over the former Weimar Republic. “We Christians know,” he stated, “that we are bound by God’s will to the promotion of National Socialism, so that all members of the people will be ready for service and sacrifice.” (“Kirche and Staat,” p. 29)

Paul Althaus, a Lutheran theologian of renown in Germany, warmly greeted the rise of Hitler. He wrote that, “The Protestant churches have greeted the political turning point as a gift and miracle of God”.. (“Die deutsche Stunde der Kirche,” p.5)

In a speech to Polish Catholics, Hitler declared: “I as a German Catholic, ask only what is permitted to Polish Catholics. To be antisemitic is not to be un-Catholic. The Church used every weapon against the Jews, even the Inquisition. Christ himself was a pioneer in the fight against Judaism.” (ibid, p. 146)

At a Church conference, Hitler affirmed that the Catholic Church has always regarded Jews as evildoers and had banished them into ghettos. He (Hitler) is only doing what the Church had been doing for fifteen hundred years.. (ibid, p. 79)

“I do insist on the certainty that sooner or later – once we hold power – Christianity will be overcome and the German Church established. Yes, the German church, without a Pope, and Luther, if he could be with us, would give us his blessing.” (Adolf Hitler, Hitler’s speeches, edited by Prof. N.H. Baynes [oxford, 1942], pg. 369.)

“If I find a Jew to baptize, I shall lead him to the Elbe bridge, hang a stone around his neck, and push him into the water, baptizing him with the name of Avraham!.. I cannot convert the Jews. Our lord Christ did not succeed in doing so; but I can close their mouths so that there will be nothing for them to do but to lie upon the ground.” – Martin Luther

"God told me to strike at al-Qaida and I struck them, and then He instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East." --- G.W. Bush , Commander in Chief of Abu Ghraib torture
