"We were convinced that the people needs and requires this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out."
Adolf Hitler, in a speech delivered in Berlin, 24 October 1933

Hitler stated: "Christ was the greatest early fighter in the battle against the world enemy, the Jews . . . The work that Christ started but could not finish, I--Adolf Hitler--will conclude."

"Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord."
Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, Ralph Mannheim, ed., p. 65, New York: Mariner Books, 1999

"Liberalism is a disease of the mind that weakens and corrupts human beings" - Adolf Hitler, 1939

Many times Althaus explained to Christians his preference for the Third Reich over the former Weimar Republic. “We Christians know,” he stated, “that we are bound by God’s will to the promotion of National Socialism, so that all members of the people will be ready for service and sacrifice.” (“Kirche and Staat,” p. 29)

Paul Althaus, a Lutheran theologian of renown in Germany, warmly greeted the rise of Hitler. He wrote that, “The Protestant churches have greeted the political turning point as a gift and miracle of God”.. (“Die deutsche Stunde der Kirche,” p.5)

In a speech to Polish Catholics, Hitler declared: “I as a German Catholic, ask only what is permitted to Polish Catholics. To be antisemitic is not to be un-Catholic. The Church used every weapon against the Jews, even the Inquisition. Christ himself was a pioneer in the fight against Judaism.” (ibid, p. 146)

At a Church conference, Hitler affirmed that the Catholic Church has always regarded Jews as evildoers and had banished them into ghettos. He (Hitler) is only doing what the Church had been doing for fifteen hundred years.. (ibid, p. 79)

“I do insist on the certainty that sooner or later – once we hold power – Christianity will be overcome and the German Church established. Yes, the German church, without a Pope, and Luther, if he could be with us, would give us his blessing.” (Adolf Hitler, Hitler’s speeches, edited by Prof. N.H. Baynes [oxford, 1942], pg. 369.)

“If I find a Jew to baptize, I shall lead him to the Elbe bridge, hang a stone around his neck, and push him into the water, baptizing him with the name of Avraham!.. I cannot convert the Jews. Our lord Christ did not succeed in doing so; but I can close their mouths so that there will be nothing for them to do but to lie upon the ground.” – Martin Luther

"God told me to strike at al-Qaida and I struck them, and then He instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East." --- G.W. Bush , Commander in Chief of Abu Ghraib torture

Don't forget that the Vatican was still preaching the "blood libel" until about 1919.

For those who don't know, the "blood libel" was the false accusation that Jewish people were using the blood of Christians in their rituals.

*Edit* -- Did I get a thumbs down because someone doesn't like the truth? I admit, the truth is often ugly.

Hitler was a liar. Why do you keep quoting him as if what he said was credible? The guy was not Christian, but only used Christianity to legitimize himself. What's new? Hillary Clinton is also claiming to be "Christian", but she's also pro-abortion (supports the American holocaust). I don't claim the woman as a true Christian sister any more than I claim Hitler as a brother in Christ.
Words are cheap & many politicians use them for their own gain. So what does that prove?

BTW, the first Christians were Jews. It was the unbelieving Jews who were killing Christians, not the other way around. Get your history straight!

Also, where'd you get that quote from Luther? In his writings, or someone else's memoirs about what he supposedly said? Show me the source!

I live in Germany right now. Let me tell you: Hitler could have been the greatest leader in all the world. Yes he was psychotic, and that was his downfall. He saw Jewish people as a threat and like a good leader he was going to take them out. I'm not saying what he did was right but he was a good leader. Just like President Bush saw Iraq as a threat. And just about every other country and leader has done it in one way or another. Think about how many innocent Iraqi people have been murdered thanks to us being there. I am an Army wife. I support our troops, this war, our country, and our President. Just thought i would throw some facts out there for everyone to think about.

The irony is, of course, that Jesus was Jewish and he never rejected his religion; he was born a Jew and he died a Jew when the Romans crucified him.

But to compare Hitler with Bush is illogical. Bush has not attempted to wipe out one specific religious group for no reason and he is not organising for crematoria to be built. Nor is he arranging for vicious experiments to be performed on children and pregnant women, as did the Nazis under Hitler.

Quoting out of context and refusing to take account of the larger picture, it is possible to make anyone seem to say anything. This is all you have done here. You're polemic preys on the ignorance of the masses - isn't that what Hitler did?

Perhaps you need to crack a Bible... Nowhere does God say "Kill all the Jews because they are lesser beings and white, blond haired people are the master race!"

Secondly, your attempt to equate President Bush with Hitler is laughable. He had no clue what was going on in Abu Ghraib, no more than I knew what was going on! Being President does not mean you are suddenly all knowing of everything that happens related to your country. Sheesh.

but Christianity preached a lot of things up to the time of that that they dont now days. yea real bad things have been done and some are still being done in the name of it but its not really Christianity's fault i think. they would use any excuse if they wonted to do something bad anuff.
i didn't know Martin Luther was a antisemitic bastard.
