How can I permanently get rid of a very persistent Jehovah's Witness?

At times, a question such as this will elicit dozens and dozens of elaborate schemes to spare a householder an unwanted conversation with Jehovah's Witness door-to-door ministers.

All such schemes are a complete and utter waste of time!

Many of your neighbors have figured it out, and it's really quite simple:
1. Open the door
2. Smile (optional)
3. Ask "Jehovah's Witness?"
4. Receive affirmation
5. Say, "Thank you, but I'm not interested"
6. Gently close the door (slamming is rude, but your prerogative)

Please recognize that Jehovah's Witnesses are not primarily interested in converts, but in working to obey Jesus' command to preach (Matt 24:14; Matt 28:19,20).

OK, some things you need to realize:

- Whose property are they on?
- Were they invited?
- Are you required to talk to them?
- Is there any chance at all that their efforts will work to convert you, or anyone else that may be living with you, to their faith?

You will need to take some action, and follow Hess's suggestions. Contact the local Kingdom hall and get the matter taken care of.

Now if you do want to talk to them, an alternative is to read up on your theology and apologetics, as well as knowing your logical fallacies. From what I've seen here on Yahoo answers, Jehovah's Witnesses have "canned answers" to most theological points, based on watchtower articles and faulty logic -- that works to their advantage if you're not skilled in spotting what they're doing.

Also realize that Jehovah's Witness' theology is a belief, and if you have your own, and are satisfied with it, you can both get along. It doesn't mean you need to show other human beings disrespect and possibly hatred for what they are doing (supposedly) in love. Yes, they can get hostile and even show you some organizational paranoia, you don't have to reciprocate. Know ahead of time what they believe, and be prepared when you open the door. Or tell them you're not interested and close it.

You can do a couple of things.

Call the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and ask to that your home not be visited. They may check back to see if you still live there.

Tell them you are disfellowshipped but they will probably know you are lying.

The best way to get rid of them - Show them apostate literature. An apostate is someone who used to be a JW but then realized that the Witnesses are full of crap and now oppose and speak out against JWs. JW's are FORBIDDEN to speak to apostates or to read their literature. They will probably never speak to you again if you show them that.

When you say 'permanently get rid of', what exactly do you mean?
I have always found that they respond well to having the door shut on them without explanation. When I say 'on them', I do not mean with them between the door and the doorpost but HEY - slam or bang - whatever floats your boat.

Never accept a magazine or book from them, don't buy anything from them it shows them you are interested.
The simplest thing is to be firm and polite and tell them you are not interested and have no wish to be disturbed by them again and it should suffice.
If they come back invite them in so you can lay hands on them so they can speak in tongues and roll in the spirit...it will scare the peanut butter out of them and they will give your house a miss the next time.

I found pointing out scriptues that are inconsistent with their teachings, and asking them to explain them helped... I actually gave one a devotional from my ministry, and she was very respectful, and although I am sure she never read it, she accepted that I had chosen my own faith, and didn't need to be hassled.

BTW it can be hard to talk scripture to a JW, because their religion's creator/leader translated his own version of the bible, and they don't use any world wide bible used in non-denominational or denominational christian churches... I find that very telling right there, and I believe they are not a church but cult/sect... but I also believe they have a right to their faith as I and everyone does.

Just asking nicely SHOULD be enough to get them to stop! And many can be really reasonable and nice loving people.

You can tell the J .W you wish you not to be called on ever again .You give him your name and he should write your name and write you not to be contacted.Also you can write and send a letter to the J W Kingdom Hall near you.If that don't work then you can go to the police.
