I just found a really funny naive quote from an answer and wanned to share it with you, maybe you can have a laugh too.

"People are afraid that they can be held accountable for all their actions so they're going to come up with a theory that allows them to think there isn't a greater being.
I don't see how people can believe in Evolution. It's just ridiculous."

What do you think?

that this is a pointless forum for ranting bitterness? I very rarely see any real questions wanting to actually learn something.

One states it is to show that the tradition of washing your hands is unneccesary as it was created by man and passed on merely as the word of God.

The other states the purpose was to sanctify all foods good for eating.

If Christ was without sin he would have fulfilled the law completely, including the dietary laws of eating kosher foods...in condoning the eating of all foods he is in fact condoning sin whereas if the real lesson is abolishing man made tradition added to the Law the washing of the hands is the real lesson... thoughts?

why do you refer to your supreme being as 'God' instead of his original name yehweh.

isn't the word 'God' a generic name that can mean any 'God'?

Imagine yourself meeting a person who seems very reasonable and cultured. You'd naturally think that whatever this person says is a reflection of the culture and intelligence you assume him to have. But when he begins to speak, even though you perceive no other change in his reasonable demeanor, he startles you with his incredible nonsense. He may insist that white is just a lighter shade of black, for example, or claim that the clouds in the sky are simply huge bunches of cotton. He believes things that no reasonable person with normal awareness and judgment could believe. He claims it is raining even though the sun is shining; and if you take him outside and show him the evident sunlight, still he persists in his claim that rain is falling and he even declares that he's getting wet! If you saw such a person, you could describe him in several ways. You might say he was being illogical, deluded, or even that he'd lost his mind, or even that he was crazy.

What Does God Require of Us?
Lesson 13
How Can You Find the True Religion?
http://watchtower.org/e/rq/index.htm?article=article_13.htm
Paragraph 2
2. The Bible foretold that after the death of the apostles, wrong teachings and unchristian practices would slowly come into the Christian congregation. Men would draw away believers to follow them instead of Christ. (Matthew 7:15, 21-23; Acts 20:29, 30) That is why we see so many different religions that claim to be Christian. How can we identify true Christians?

For example:
My wife's sister is totally brainwashed with religion. She can't do anything without religion interfering (and she's not all that nice of a person either). She saw my wife's tattoo and commented that she was going to go to hell for it. She goes to church every single weekend out of the irrational fear that missing a week will send her to hell. She analyzes everything that she does to make sure she isn't sinning. She told my wife's brother to leave his girlfriend (he's been with for like 6 years) just because she is Mormon and not Catholic.

I mean do you ever feel bad that religion has completely ruined these peoples lives, and that they (such as in the case of my wife's sister) will have absolutely nothing to show for it in the end?

I think a lot of it is metaphorical and the writers uses a lot of symbolism so I don't think it should all be taken literally. But if you insist on taking evey word literally why aren't all Christians running marathons? Paul said to run a race and not quit.

Faith seems to go beyond belief. Can you explain how?

Mark 4:40: He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"

Mark 5:34: He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."

Mark 16:14: Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.

Luke 17:6: He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.

In a recent post, a protestant wrote: "It's sad but true that the father of the protestant reformation [Luther] was a rabid jew-hater. Fortunately, most of those who, today, follow the protestant christian message have purged themselves of this hatred."

Now, I find this ironic. Two of the many favorite weapons Fundies use against Catholics are the Inquisition and the Crusades. So, a protestant can wash his hands of the Jew-hating Luther, the witch trials (which were in our own country!) and Henry VIII's murder and supression of Catholics, but they still tie us to the 1000-year old Crusades.
Only one word comes to mind: HYPOCRITES

What do YOU guys think?

then did you try a different type of church? There are many different types of churches and one type will not suite every person. I personally agree with the atheist that stated that the Catholics are zombies for even the Bible is strictly against non-sense repetition, but I chose to be a Baptist instead. If no church is suffecient, then at least read the Bible before you quit on God for he has not quit on you.

I asked a question about the observation that different religions believe conflicting "truths" with equal intensity and sincerity. One person responded that she believes they may feel exactly the same as she does, but this is because they were deceived.

My question is, how do you know you were not deceived if you feel the same way as others who disagree with you?

(King Hezekiah) would die soon. Then Hezekiah repented & God granted him another 15 years to live. But Isaiah's initial prediction didn't come to pass.

So? His Isaiah's initial predictions didn't come to pass, so did Isaiah hear from the Lord?
