The Mormons have "officially" backed off of that position (that black people suffer the Curse of Caine).

Then again, they don't "officially" approve of polygamy anymore.

It is up to you to decide if they "really" mean it.

There's a surprisingly large amount of misinformation in the responses to this question! The Mormon Church is not a racist church. I'm Mormon, and my wife is black. We were sealed in a Mormon temple, where the officiator told us that God approved of our marriage. My wife is treated well at church, as are the other African American members of our congregation. I've had a black bishop in several different Mormon congregations of which I've been a member.

Most people don't realize that worldwide, the majority of Mormons are not white.

It is quite ironic that many people who are bigoted against Mormons claim that Mormons are bigoted against blacks to try to falsely discredit us!

JEEZ!! you people need to get things right, there is a HUGE difference between a MARK and a CURSE.
CAIN was cursed. His DESCENDENTS were marked with the color: genetics. duh.

it also happened to Laman and Lemuel in the Americas. but that does not mean just cause you were born a certain color you are cursed cuz of it.

Mormons are not racist, nor do they believe other races to be cursed.

No, the curse of Cain was lifted in 6 Apr 1830 New York

The Curse of Cain came because he Killed Abel his older brother.

Cain will be in Charge Hell, because he has a body of flesh and bones!!

The curse of Cain was that his decendants wouldn't hold the Priesthood of God until the last days. That curse was lifted, but the mark of Cain still remains, it's the black skin.

I'm not a Mormon so someone would have to tell me what the curse of Cain was first , is it like the concept of original sin.

You again. You just don't get it, do you? Quit trolling. You keep quoting a book that is not endorsed by the Church, nor is it considered official Church doctrine. Go find some other obscure nondoctrinal point to get hung up on already.

Blacks have darker skin through genetics. So what.

Of course blacks are "allowed in the church." The 1st counselor in the Bishopric was black. I say was because he recently passed away due to colon cancer. John was a wonderful man and he is missed.

Blacks, whites, and anyone in between are allowed into the Mormon Church has always were since it was organized in 1830. Nothing has ever changed about that. Now, if you are referring to the priesthood, I suppose that if you believe the priesthood is "of God," or God's priesthood, God could give it to anyone he did or did not desire to give it to. It would be his priesthood after all. (See Hebrews 5:4).

God has allowed all men, regardless of creed or color to receive his priesthood, IF they are called of him to receive it and they are worthy to.

The profit had a revelation, that is no longer the case, people of color are now accepted. Excluding other races was an old, uneducated, and bigoted teaching. Besides, their money spends just as good as the white folks money does.
