On an answer to a question I made a mistake and said Jesus came from the tribe of Benjamin. It was then asked by another person "How could Jesus come from the Tribe of Benjamin? Tribal heredity is passed through the father and Jesus had no earthly father." I since replied that Jesus did come from the tribe of Judas and he did have an earthly father in Joseph and that is how it is true the house of David will rule. Thoughts?

Some on here are saying that the grave is hell and others talk about it as a place of eternal torment. It seems like once a person has studied the Bible for many years they should come to the same conclusion as others who have also.

01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all like many of the principles on which this great country was founded; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of marriages like Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

I know that God loves a cheerful giver, but I have issues with tithing knowing that I see the pastors driving nice cars, etc. with their salary. They are more well off than I am, as I am struggling in a single-income family of 5. I'm just trying to reconcile this. Any advice?

Carefully consider:

The Bible is explicit about these 4 facts/truths:
1) ALL people JUSTLY deserve to go to hell.
2) “Most” will go to hell.
3) “Few” will go to heaven.
4) The “few” that JUSTLY deserve to go to hell, go to heaven because of God’s GRACE alone.

Does this mean that God’s grace is at the EXPENSE of His justice?

For example: If a man is TRULY guilty of a crime and the judge were to simply let that man go free, then people would declare that the judge was unjust by picketing the courthouse with signs saying, “WE WANT JUSTICE!”

So, to phrase it more poignantly:
Is God unjust in being gracious?

Obviously not!

But if not, then how or why not?

Since some folks seem to think that atheists are just believers who are being naughty rebellious boys and girls, how can I tell if they're right? Is there a test? Is there something that a believer who just pretends to be an atheist would never do? Maybe there's something akin to getting a vampire to hold a crucifix, or something...

Like if a Muslim is miraculously saved from a car accident or something, and they say 'Allah saved me' and they claim it *proves* Muhammad / Allah is the real God, what do you say to that?

Just a co-incidence? same thing can be said to explain miricles by *your* God.

Your god is actually the one who did it? Muslims can say the same thing whenever you claim your God performed a miracle.

Do you see how 'miracles' don't prove a thing? They prove absolutly nothing.

My friend's aunt knows this Christian guy that has a daughter. My friend is Buddhist so she believes in Buddha. The daughter asked my friend questions about God, but my friend told her that she doesn't believe in God. Then the daughter began crying and told her dad. The dad was like "It's ok...We all know Buddha sucks." Isn't it bad for the dad to say and teach his daughter that...?

Doing so would force my child to adhere to the behavioral standards of the Christian faith (i.e. personally addressing the Abrahamic "deity" and the "messiah" Jesus with reverence).

Why is it acceptable, according to those who want "prayer back in school", for a secular insitution like the public education system to require children to participate in such a religious observance? How is it not a violation of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees religious freedom, if/when the government sanctions a practice which requires ALL students to recognize and "communicate with" a religious concept, namely Yahweh?

After all, government mandated prayer in public schools fails the Lemon test, so what possible valid arguments might there be to require children to pray to God during their public schooling? Isn't it my right as a parent to choose NOT to raise my child as a Christian? Why should the public schools be able to interfere with that?

Just like old times, eh Catholics?

Right, so ever since I moved out to go to school, I have been in need of a new church that's close to where I live, preferably something conservative. I was raised as a protestant and was wondering what are some fundamental differences between protestants and catholics? So far, the only thing I'd have a problem with is saying that the Pope is infallible, do all catholics believe this, or is it more like a "what he says goes" kind of thing?

If you lived in a country that was, say, predominantly Hindu, wouldn't you expect to see symbols of the Hindu faith displayed in public places? Wouldn't you expect to hear Hindu children saying Hindu prayers in school?
If you lived in a Muslim country, you would definitely expect such things.
If you lived in a country that was populated by followers of the FSM, you'd expect to see loads of people dressed in pirate gear...

So, why do you find it strange that, in a country that is predominantly Christian, that the Christians who live here would like to be free to express their faith where ever they happen to be?
Why should we have to take down our crosses and our commandments? They have been here for decades, and longer. Did you only now realize what they were?
Why shouldn't our children pray in their schools? Are you afraid your kid might hear a Christian prayer and be converted?
Why shouldn't we be who we are...why should we have to tiptoe around on eggshells?
We are Christians!
