Jesus' words rule out the "as quickly as saved, consistently saved" thought. in common terms people who undergo persecution or trials until eventually the tip comes, would be saved and get carry of eternal life, the two in heaven or right here in the international. All authentic Christians could desire to undergo a pair sort of persecution and hatred. Jesus reported this might take place to his followers, exceptionally in those "final days" We could desire to have faith alongside with works and follow the best examples of Jesus and his honest apostles. yes, that was a statement of Jesus from the gospels

I lean toward the view of perseverance of the saints.
the really saved will bear fruit and persevere to the end in some sense. or as Peter put it in one of his letters "you are protected by the power of God for a salvation"

there is a conference that was held on the subject of rugged perseverance held several weeks ago called "stand" with some very good discussion on that exact subject

http://www.desiringgod.org/ResourceLibrary/ConferenceMessages/ByConference/37/
all the speakers on this topic of rugged endurance each endured much in thier lives I reccommend it

look up national conference 2007 "Stand" under search

For myself, this has got to be the most troubling verse in the whole Bible, because I'm just not enduring all that well. It seems as the world gets dumber and humanity gets more cocky and hateful against God, the more hateful I get towards humanity. I especially hate and despise humanism and the philosophy of naturalism which is in truth the religion of atheism.

This is descriptive, not prescriptive. All believers, those called, indwelt with the Spirit, forgiven and justified, will be preserved through the end. God will see to that. God will not lose one whom He has called. Those who say we must fight in our flesh till our death to preserve and hold to our Christian faith, and hope we do not falter or fall away, do no understand the Scriptures. God will keep those whom He has called from falling, we have a sure salvation.

Some people promote a very attractive idea: All true Christians, regardless of how they live, have an absolute assurance of salvation, once they accept Jesus into their hearts as "their personal Lord and Savior." The problem is that this belief is contrary to the Bible & constant Christian teaching.

Recall this Scripture: "If we have died with him [in baptism; see Rom. 6:3-4] we shall also live with him; if we persevere we shall also reign with him" (2 Tim. 2:11-12). So, ff we do NOT persevere, we shall NOT reign with him. In other words, Christians can forfeit heaven. Jesus tells us, "He who endures to the end will be saved" (Matt. 24:13; cf. 25:31-46). Ergo, if you do not endure to the end, well........

The Bible makes it clear that Christians have a moral assurance of salvation (God will be true to his word and will grant salvation to those who have faith in Christ and are obedient to him [1 John 3:19-24]), but the Bible does NOT teach that Christians have a guarantee of heaven. There can be no absolute assurance of salvation. The Bible says, "See, then, the kindness and severity of God: severity toward those who fell, but God's kindness to you, provided you remain in his kindness, otherwise you too will be cut off" (Rom. 11:22-23; Matt. 18:21-35, 1 Cor. 15:1-2, 2 Pet. 2:20-21).

Note that this includes an important condition: "provided you remain in his kindness." It is saying that Christians can lose their salvation by throwing it away. He warns, "Whoever thinks he is standing secure should take care not to fall" (1 Cor. 10:11-12). , Paul admitted that even he could fall away: "I pummel my body and subdue it, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified" (1 Cor. 9:27). In saying this he points out that even he cannot be infallibly sure of his own present state or of his future salvation.

As a Catholic, when someone asks me if I have been "saved," I answer: "I am redeemed by the blood of Christ, I trust in him alone for my salvation, and, as the Bible teaches, I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), knowing that it is God's gift of grace that is working in me."

Everyone is saved.

Contrary to popular belief All roads lead home.

Some are just more circuitous than others are.

The idea that only one path leads back home to God assumes a God so incompetent that he can't even organize a simple educational field excursion and get all of the student’s home safely.

This amounts to saying that God has a plan for your salvation, but He was not smart enough to come up with one that would work 100 percent of the time.

How likely is that?

Love and blessings.

Sort of puts a large dent in those who want to believe "once saved always saved" doesn't it.

Apparently our heavenly Father is not so gullible as they hoped.

"without turning from Jesus as Savior and Lord and not forsaking Him"
"Saved" isn't a claim, but a lifestyle of growing in faith and truth and becoming more and more like our Lord.
Jesus Himself says that it's not those who call Him "Lord" ,but those who do the will of His father in heaven.., which is growing in word and truth and faith.
