Is it that Christianity is so irrational and unscientific and you dont understand how believers can't see that...or is it that people find comfort and happiness in this religious belief system of stories and unseen forces and you just cant understand how that could work

We never used to understand what the stars and the sun were.
Religion decided that it knew what they were and announced that they were the Gods.
Science came along and showed what they actually were.
Religions retreated from that idea and concentrated on explaining other mysteries that we weren't able to explain...yet.

Creationism vs. Evolution is just the most modern example of this age-old "religion says it can explain it first, science comes along, proves it wrong and actually explains how something works, then religion retreats into more, harder-to-disprove realms and ideas" notion.

Will there ever be a day when religion just has to admit that it's purpose was to fill in the gaps of the naturally inquistive human mind, that some people were able to make a lot of money out of it along the way, and let that be the end of it?

I heard that God actually RECREATED Earth in Genesis and God actually took the dinosaur bones out of the old earth and buried them in the new earth he just created. After of course he must've created humans and all other life. Is that true? Or did God actually speed up the half-life of radiometric isotopes in fossils?

What makes them better than me? Yeah, they all did great things but after God showed Himself/Herself to them. I thought we were all equals in his book? Does God really love me or not enough to directly speak to me?

Are we like plants, some of us bloom at different seasons?

Some of us seem not to do very good, despite others efforts to help, but in time, their season, they will come around....perhaps in God's time.
Do you think it was part of God's plan, that we not give up on anyone, that God wants us to keep sowing seeds of love and witness?

According to the bible, those who are ignorant of God will get in to heaven (some "ignorance clause" I heard of). Like those people living in areas untouched by people trying to spread the word of God or people that believed in something entirely different and never heard of God or Jesus. So by spreading the word of God and those who dont accept it will go to hell. I know its their choice to accept God or not but if the Word was never spread, they would be going to heaven; now they will forever burn in hell. Why would anyone take that chance will someone' soul? They claim to want to save everyone but are kind of doing the opposite. Isnt it better to keep it to yourself? This way everyone is guaranteed to be saved. (well those that live a "good" life or whatever that means)

P.S.- Not atheist but still most likely going to hell because of the way I think.

Even though a lot of people have their beliefs abotu what happens after you die they are still afraid of it. Does this mean they have some doubt in their mind about what they believe happens next? I am not afraid of death because i know where i am going as should other believers. How do u feel about this?

Or, let's just narrow it down to ONE Scientology practice: auditing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auditing_%28Scientology%29

If all US public schools wanted to require your children to participate in Scientology "auditing", would you object? Would you say "I'm not raising my children that way, so why should the schools get to do it?" or would you say "the government doesn't have the right to require my children to participate in any religious practice regardless of how I'm raising them"?

Alternately, would you shrug your shoulders at this violation of the First Amendment and opt to home school your children just to avoid putting up a fuss?
