You do not have to be baptised to take communion, but baptism is an outward showing of your inner faith. If you take communion, you obviously believe in God, so get baptised if you have a church home.

If it was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for the rest of us.

Communion is only for the baptized in many mainstream religions, I'm not sure what religion you're referring to. A better question is, why aren't you baptized? Some religions require people to be old enough to understand what baptism is, so they have them wait until they are 12 years old or so. Others baptize as infants, and require children to "confirm" their baptism when they're 12, 13, or 14 years old, or so. Talk to your family if you're younger than 18, or to the minister if you're of legal age, and see about becoming baptized and what your church teaches.

It depends.

Protestants focus on the words "do this in memory of me" -- that is, they break bread to remember Jesus's death.

Catholics focus on the words "this is my body" -- that is, Catholics believe that is actually, truly the body of Christ.

So for Catholics, this is something so incredibly special -- that Christ is truly present in that little piece of bread -- you should believe it --really believe it. If you take it as just a piece of bread you are not giving it the awe and wonder it deserves. But if you take it as truly the body of Christ it is a beautiful, intimate, tangible connection to the divine. Open your heart to it and know that it is a gift of Love -- the Love of Jesus who gave his life for you. Let that Love flow over you and through you.

Therefore, in a Catholic Church communion is for people who really believe in the true presence of Jesus. So you're supposed to be baptized Catholic AND have gone through some classes to make sure you really understand what it is. A child's First Communion is a special event, usually at age 7 or so, and only after some instruction.

yes, RWHowell---how come the if it's good enough for Jesus it's good enough for us doesn't apply to the Virgin Mary?

Please do not take communion in a Catholic Church unless you are a practicing Catholic in the state of grace as you bring judgment down on to yourself if you do.

This rite is a rite of communion---if you are not in union with the Pope and the baptized Catholics you should not take Holy Communion

Communion is for people who are in a state of grace. It won't have any effect in you if you are not in that state. We must always remember that each time we receive Holy Communion we receive God's graces and the more grace we receive the easier it is to resist the temptations of sin.

i'm not sure about that, i don't think it's a requirement. of course, i'm just a pagan with a little christian background.
however, i think it would be wise to note these passages of scripture whenever you're considering taking communion.
1 corinthians 11:23- 32
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took abread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this abread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this abread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man aexamine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are achastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

No. You don't have to be baptised into any denomination to be in communion with Christ.
