Is it that Christianity is so irrational and unscientific and you dont understand how believers can't see that...or is it that people find comfort and happiness in this religious belief system of stories and unseen forces and you just cant understand how that could work

Actually Cotteral I am far from an atheist but I like to learn the view points of people I disagree with.

Neither. It is the fact that certain "Christians" try to force their beliefs on others, control other people's lives, justify their bigotry by spouting off Bible verses and slander other faiths by spreading lies and propaganda.
Other than that, I am all for people following whatever path brings peace to them and teaches them to treat others with compassion.

Because Christianity is so irrational and unscientific as well as attempting to force everyone into Christianity, also included is hindering science and free thinking

Neither of the above..

I find christians (not all but many) insistence on preaching to me even when I have emphatically told them I am not interested the most bothersome... If christians would exhibit common courtesy the world would be a far better place.. But instead many insist upon "Ambush Preaching" which only reinforces my feelings that christians are self-absorbed, sanctimonious and rude.. Not exactly the picture christians intend to portray but alas the one they do portray because they don't stop and think before they foist their opinions on others..

Those things don't bother me at all. It's ok with me if people claim to believe in irrational things. And I am glad if people can find comfort and happiness that doesn't hurt others.

What bothers me is when people think what I believe is any of their business and try to make it their business. It also bothers me when people profess to be great believers and extremely religious and then they behave in ways that injure others, without any regard to how this violates the beliefs they profess. Hypocrisy bothers me when it hurts people. What people believe doesn't bother me unless it affects me.

The comfort and happiness part is a great side-effect from believing in religion - I wouldn't ever deny the kind of comfort, that only religion can provide, to the terminally ill and old.

What bothers me most is that people make huge amounts of money out of all people gullible enough to believe in whatever made up, illogical rubbish that someone has invented.

I don't like to see people being scammed.

Even more so when they actually enjoy being scammed.

I agree with Don H, Athiest or Christian doesn't change the fact that we are all human. It's about showing respect either way. There will always be a bad apple in every group that gives a bad name to the lot ... Personal beleifs aside, is it that hard to discuss versus name call?

-Gypsy girl: I'm sorry people do that to you. It's rude and uncalled for to try and force their beliefs on you. That is what I don't like about my fellow Christians too at times. No one has the right to say you are wrong based on their own lifes beleifs. I don't preach to someone over religion just because they don't agree with me. It's not polite.

Option A, sure I think it's unscientific but I see that it brings many people comfort and lets them cope when if it wasn't there they wouldn't be able to so it's not all that bad but it's just not for me.

I hate it when they tell me I'm going to hell. I hate it when they shove Pascales wager at me. I hate how they judge everyone that doesn't follow their beliefs. I hate how they try forcing their religion on me. I hate when they slow down progress. I hate how they don't make sense and say my beliefs are more contradicting then theirs. I hate when they go on about the rapture. I hate when they believe every word the bible says. As if people can live for 800 years. It's symbolic ok?

I hate when they tell me to stop being angry at God. I can't be angry at something I don't believe in. Are you angry at the Easter bunny? I hate when they say "there are no atheists on a crashing plane." as if they know what people on a crashing plane are thinking. I hate when they say to pray for suffering people. As if praying is going to make it go away.

The only thing about Christianity that bothers me is the people who insist on preaching to me. I have studied religion and rejected it. I don't like people passing judgement on me for that.

I'm glad that religion works for some people, and I can't imagine what this world would be like if people didn't have religion to give them a sense of purpose and direction. Some people need religion in their lives. It just dosn't work for me.

Those would not be number one on the list. Evangelizing and destroying non-Christian cultures. Imposing Christian values on society as a whole. The turn or burn mentality that has been used (still is) for 2,000 years.
