Why celebrate Easter and Christmas?

I mean, those are pagan feasts. Christmas uses the symbolism of Yule and Winter Equinox (Cletic Paganism), Easter is a name adapted from Eostre, the Spring Equinox, the Pagan FEstival of Fertility.

Do you think we should celebrate these holidays for what they are, and not wrap them up in Symbolism that they are not? It makes me feel ill in the stomach when I see a children's "Christmas" book, whihc is trying to sell Chirstian themes in Pagan symbolism.

What do you think?

Science is pushing some amazing concepts. Is it providing a better answer or does religion still have the dominion of God.

Hi, I'm twenty years old and I have just given myself over to Judisim full heartedly. I was told by my older brother, who also converted long before me that wearing a yamaka is a sign of honoring god and humility, thus you can(should) wear it all the time.

Recently a lady came into the place where I worked and said she lived in a jewish community, and wearing a yamaka, or Kippa while working was disrespectful as it was not a place of worship. Is this true? I am still new to this and the last thing I want to do is offend someone. If so (or even if not) When should I not wear a Yamaka?

1st:Just because someone is nice to the people around them, doesn't mean that they are a good person. Even a person who donates all their time to charity, can be a bad person. Having people who know you tell you that you are a good person doesn't necessarily qualify either?

2nd: Just because you feel good for doing something, that doesn't mean that you did a good thing. Just because you feel bad about doing something doesn't mean you did something bad.

What say you ?

I'm not saying morals, but things like prayer and that there are higher powers or forces.
Not a God as any religion sees it but spiritual concepts.

I was just outside the main door where it says "THE HOUSE OF THE LORD..." I was probably 3-4. My parents were sealed there before I was born, and I assume they had Temple reccomends. But was I in the Temple? Are children allowed inside? I had not yet been baptized, and was wearing "street clothes"

Thanks!!

Atheists are just people - and this is a public forum. People of ALL beliefs and lack of can go anywhere they want on the internet. The "Religion and Spirituality" section of yahoo answers is part of the internet, and all are welcome to be here.

And, anyway, why would anyone who's NOT atheist claim to be one? How could ALL who claim to be atheists on R & S not be atheists? Did they all get together to do this for as long as R & S has been up? To mess with other theists' minds? Is it impossible for any "real" atheist to be at R & S?

My mom and I are very close and even though I no longer live with her we are still close. I'm 17 and free . Anyways I have really wanted to go on missions trips, but every time I talk to my mom about it she says she doesn't want me going. I told her that I have a longing to get involved and help and she says that anyone with a heart would. She tells me that until I have the holy spirit that I should just forget about it. That would mean (according to her) that I could speak in tongues. She told me when I could do that than she would send me off with her blessing. My question is would it be dishonoring her if I with anyways and please explain your answers thank you. God bless!

lived before the bible was written?

If you say because God sent Noah to tell them, how would you expect them to know that he was really sent by God and wasn't just some crazy old man? If some guy told you that God is going to send a flood if you don't repent, would you believe him or would you just think he was off his rocker?
