According to the bible, those who are ignorant of God will get in to heaven (some "ignorance clause" I heard of). Like those people living in areas untouched by people trying to spread the word of God or people that believed in something entirely different and never heard of God or Jesus. So by spreading the word of God and those who dont accept it will go to hell. I know its their choice to accept God or not but if the Word was never spread, they would be going to heaven; now they will forever burn in hell. Why would anyone take that chance will someone' soul? They claim to want to save everyone but are kind of doing the opposite. Isnt it better to keep it to yourself? This way everyone is guaranteed to be saved. (well those that live a "good" life or whatever that means)

P.S.- Not atheist but still most likely going to hell because of the way I think.

Im talking about if the "ignorant" people die before they heard the word of God. I dont mean the Christians are saying,"I damn you to HELLL!!!" just introducing God to someone who doesnt believe in anything and hears the Word of God and still rejects will cause them to go to Hell. They would be better off not knowing about God; better chance of going to Heaven.

Wow....no one is actually reading the whole question before they answer. Some are just reading parts of it. Others are using arguments that are in my question and acting like Im saying the opposite. This is why I hate yahoo answers.

How is presenting the good news of Christ persuading people to go to hell?
I don't make your choice, YOU DO.
You can choose to accept Jesus for what He did, or reject Him.

And your logic of ignorance holds no substance, since the goal of heaven is your prerogative. For true Christians, a relationship with God is paramount, and heaven is an eternal reward of that relationship.
I long to be in His presence on earth...NOW. I do not want to wait for heaven to be with God, and neither does He.

That is the difference with your "ignorance" claim and having a relationship with Him now. You want the benefits without the benefactor.
I want HIM.

Because Atheists are not incapable of understanding, they make the choice not to understand. The ignorance clause, as you call it, would apply to infants and small children that do not have the capacity to understand simple things. Or to a mentally retarded person, incapable of comprehending anything. People in remote areas with severe language barriers may also qualify, I am talking deep jungle people not able to be reached or possibly even known to exist. It isn't a cop-out clause, the way you think is selfish in itself as not wanting to be held accountable for things you can control.

The Bible says, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature -- have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse" (Romans 1:20). The complexity of the world around us tells us that there is a God, even though people can suppress that knowledge in their hearts.
Jesus came to save people from that. He said to tell people.

Paul says in Romans that they respond to the light given them.In other words, all cultures have a no murder, theft, etc policy even without God's revelation. They have what Paul calls "Eternity in their hearts".If they live that way they have a chance. If they say "Well,I didn't know murder was wrong" God will say "Sure you did it is in you innately".But if they live good and then say"I knew there was a God out there somewhere ",they have a much better chance.
The ONLY thing that will keep you out of heaven is rejecting(not being ignorant of but knowingly rejecting) Jesus Christ as savior. It doesn't matter what you think. We have brains to mull over all kinds of weird stuff and we get tempted too.Jesus died for all that .Accept it.Martin Luther said "I am not responsible for the birds that fly around my head.(Believe me he had a lot of them too) I am responsible only for the ones I let nest in my hair."
Get it?

Ignorance may not be an excuse, except in the case of infants and children who are not yet accountable . Paul said in Romans 1:20

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

The only people sending atheists to hell are atheists themselves !

No, you see people will respond to the light that they are given. If an "ignorant" person who is willing to know God were presented with the gospel, they would respond positively to it and be ushered in to an even deeper understanding of God.

That is why Christianity is exploding all over Africa and China - people who have never heard the gospel are being presented with it and despite persecution, the Church is growing by leaps and bounds in those areas.

The problem in Europe and America is not that people haven't heard the gospel, but that they have rejected it. Their hearts are like concrete. You can't plant seeds of truth in concrete - only God can break through the concrete and get to the heart of the person inside.

hey, good question! i am a christian, and i think that God gives everyone a chance. the people who hear his word and deny it will obviously go to hell, but the people in like rual cities in africa or something, i think God will give them a second chance. also, little childen who die before they can make a decision about Christ will go to heaven, it says that in the Bible. sorry if i didn't answer your question like you wanted it answered, but was very interesting to think about : )

To say that Christians send atheists to hell is kinda like saying that law-abiding citizens send criminals to prison.

No, no, no!

People go to prison because they, themselves, break the Law, and people go to hell only because they break GOD'S Law.

Don't go blaming others for your own choices! God won't accept that kind of nonsense on judgement day!

If I say I don't believe in cops, so I drive through signal lights when they are red, does my lack of belief in cops prevent one from ticketing me? I don't THINK so!

Additional comment: God won't send ANY body to hell who doesn't deserve it! People know when they violate their own conscience. People also do things that they wouldn't want others to do to them, demonstrating that they DO know the Law which is written in their hearts.

As an Atheist I do not believe in hell, so if the want to lower themselves to being bigots, they really are nothing short of narrow minded.

if heaven is full of people who are trying very very hard to convert everyone's belief, by shouting out phrases like "amen!", "jesus saves!", praise god!" out of nowhere, and by using capital letters on Normal Words, and by quoting paragraphs From "holy" book written by normal Human, then i Rather go To hell.
