Everyone of us has potential to succeed and overcome obstacles. Some of us might be weaker than others, some of us need more encouragement than others, but no one of us should be left out or left behind. I NEVER give up on someone.
I have a brother-in-law and he is alcoholic. He has been in big trouble because of that. All the family did what they could, but now they kinda let him go... I am the only one (or at least one of the few) that is still calling him and lifting him up, encouraging him and showing love and support. I am always saying to him how much I trust he will overcome this.
Sometimes we have to be persistent, like water hitting a rock... it might take years, but the water finally makes a hole in the rock.
Never give up on someone!!
Peace!

We should Never Give Up cause GOD Never Gives Up.
satan will tell ya that GOD gave up on you.
satan is the father of Lies.
You have a Chance to Come to GOD till you ain't Breathing no more, and Then, GOD can Slow Down Time and Give Ya Another Chance to Accept Jesus as your Saviour, untill the Silver Cord Breaks.
Then, That's All Folks!
Your Either In-Christ or still Out-of-Christ.
I really wouldn't want to Wait that long if it was me. Scary!

I'm an atheist, so I have a different perspective. I figure the reason not to give up on anyone is that we have too many examples of people who were seriously screwed up one way or another and managed to turn their lives around. And you never know what is around the next bend in the river.

Approach life with a positive attitude and a can do philosophy; for with God all things are possible and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
Yeah.Sometimes the plant thing is pretty close.
Prayer is also very powerful.
Don't give up!Keep witnessing to others who need Christ in thier life.

I grew up with a Christian mother and a hardcore Atheist father. I was following in his footsteps untill the Holy Spirit got ahold of me at the age of 19. I prayed for my dad and talked to him about God often and he died this May. He was saved and baptized 4 days before he died. Now i know I will see him again! Never ever give up on those you love. God will answer your prayers for them. God bless!!
Even Jeffery Dahmer and Ted Bundy gave their hearts to the Lord before they died and I'm sure that somone was there who had not given up on them and led them to the Lord and , yes, they will be in heaven. Jesus has forgiven them and gave them a new heart. The new heart we receive is the key here. They won't be murderous serial killers in heaven. The Bible clearly says that no murders, liars, ETC... will be in the kingdom of heaven. However when they acceped Christ they became born again and received a new heart.

No, I think we should give up on people like Jeffry Dahmer, Ted Kazynski, Ted Bundy, Colin Ferguson, Charles Manson, John Wayne Gacy, David Berkowitz, etc
Some people are "broken" and can't be fixed.

My perspective is that we should never, never, never get involved enough in what anyone else might be doing they'd have to be given up on to need to give up on them

Yes, you've got it spot on. There's always hope as long as there's life. Jesus sets the example when he told us he will never forsake us.
