Probably because there are many debates of it's correctness due to religious beliefs.

Because those of us who are rational, intelligent, and who accept modern science are constantly attacked by those who insist on forcing their narrow interpretation of certain religious texts into the science classroom.
Let me state, however, that while I am a fierce supporter of Evolution, and a fierce critic of Intelligent Design, I am in no way an Atheist. I believe that it is possible to have both faith in some form of divinity, and a firm grasp of science. The two are not mutually exclusive. There are Christians who believe in Evolution. It's not all or nothing. There are more intellectual and spiritual choices out there than just Fundamentalist Christianity and Fundamentalist Atheism.
Rev. Albert Einstein -- BS! Evolution is definitely supported by the fossil record, by DNA, and by careful observations of nature. There are mountains of evidence in support of Evolution. As for it being "just" a theory, most people who do not have a science background do not understand what the word "theory" means in scientific circles. A "theory" is not the same thing as a "hypothesis." A "theory" is not an "opinion." A theory is a widely accepted view, for which there is much supporting evidence.

Evolution-biology is in science, not in R & S. But the religious people are so intent on discrediting science and evolution that they keep bringing the subject back.
It has been answered hundreds and hundreds of times.
Humans are composed of body and mind, not one without the other. The mind is the soul or the spiritual part of a person. One does not have to make it into a mystical experience. The mind is our consciousness of reality. It is produced by the brain. Without the brain, even if someone could live with a perfect heart and all the other organs, one could not be conscious of reality and would not be able to live.
Human consciousness is the accumulation from birth throughout life of knowledge, ideas, concepts, vocabulary, emotions, sensations, sentiments, values, imagination, memories, dreams, desires, will, choices, etc. None of these things can exist floating around reality without a physical body. All human consciousness is produced by the brain and the nervous system. The body without consciousness is a cadaver; consciousness without the body is just an imagined ghost.

That is where questions about evolution belong. There is no link to religion *except* the one created by Christian fundamentalists and evangelicals like yourself.
Posts about evolution would stay in the science section if fundamentalists didn't constantly disparage scientific fact and assert that scientists are either liars or stupid.
Science is provable fact, religion is faith and supposition.
Most people who are not fundamentalists, and many who are, do not want to see science done away with in favor of unprovable mythology and superstition. So when people misrepresent science and even lie about it in the Religion and Spirituality section, it is to the R&S section that realists must go to meet that challenge.
ADDED: Rev. Albert Einstein - if you are a Christian, please stop lying. The fossil record very well supports evolution. It does not in the least support creationism. And lying about those facts does not change the truth.

Because there are areas where science and religion meet; this is one such. This particular area seems, on the surface, to contradict the Bible, and many Christians vehemently oppose the teaching of evolution in school systems. Because of this, the subject comes up, and this seems the best place, at least on YA, to discuss it.

There is *nothing* that we'd like more than to see the entire subject of evolution left to science. Unfortunately, there are people who refuse to let it stay there, and those people are religious and oppose it simply because it doesn't gel with their religious literature. The fact that they are trying to hinder educating our children about it, and are trying to insert their unsubstantiated religious beliefs into our laws, schools, and government, forces us into the argument. Now we're not going to go to the SCIENCE section for that purpose, because you're not going to find those religious people THERE, you find them here, trying to spread their lies and misinformation about what the theory of evolution says. And as long as they do that, we're going to stay here and make sure that people get at least SOME access to the correct information.

If they asked this in the science section they would be laughed off of Yahoo.
If you really don't want an answer and are trying to make debate where there really is none this is the place to ask.

Many have been sent to science for asking these questions. They how ever keep placing their questions in the wrong branch. As you may know those in science are not quite as nice as the R&S group. In the mean time just enjoy the drinks.

Because evolution is bogus.
There. I said it, and it's true.
No, evolution is not a theory, it's a struggling Hypothesis.
No, Christians don't necissarily want Genesis to be the national science textbook.
No, we are not stupid, we just haven't been brainwashed by public school teachers.
No, Christianity is not a myth. Why does everyone say 'my God'?
Go ahead and give me 20 down. I'm a teenager and I'm proud I know the truth. (which is more than any of you) I just can't believe that all you, who want us Christians to be more acceptive of other peoples opinions, can't stand it when we voice ours.
Kinda selfish of you, don't you think?

Cause anti-evolution is a religious theory. Haven't you heard about creationism and church science and all that stuff? If you're talking about anti-evolution that's basically religious.
They don't want you to learn about evolution cause it might start you thinking and wondering about all the weird creepy stories in the Bible.
