My personal belief is that since baptism is a covenant to follow Christ, it should be done once someone is old enough to choose for herself. I am not a catholic, but in the church that I follow we wait until children are at least 8 years old before we allow them to be baptized. We do not believe in an original sin for which we must be baptized as infants. We believe that baptism is necessary, but we also believe that those who die without the chance to be baptized will be justified through the atonement of Christ. Although Christ was circumcised as an infant, He was baptized as an as were all others at his time.
However, if it is your belief and if you really feel that your daughter needs to be baptized immediately I think that is what you should do.

There is never a time when a child should be baptised. Baptism will not save him or her from commiting sin as he ages. It wont give him faith either. Salvation is a personal and eternal thing between an individual. The child has not yet even the understanding of this to make that choice.
The children all ready belong to the Father. No baptism required.

The bible does not teach infant baptism. It is a catholic tradition. You must decide(with the babies father) what you want to do. In my non-denominational church we dedicate babies to God, we don't baptize them. The catholic church thinks child baptism makes them a member of their church. That is not biblical. Baptism is a sign that a person has rejected his carnal nature and has accepted eternal life through Jesus Christ. The bible says He has become a new creation in Christ Jesus. An infant cannot reason to do that. That is why we dedicate them to God for protection until they are old enough to make that decision. If you choose the catholic tradtion then you should see a priest for directions. May God give you the wisdom to choose His will for your family. lol

Can an 18 month old comprehend the gospel and turn to God?
There is so much confusion among people who claim to be religious. Let Scripture be your guide.
It is those who believe that are baptized. Infant baptism was born out of fear and is a belief and practice that puts a short arm on God.

Well it's never too late to get baptized, even in a Catholic church. The right thing for you to do is wait until she is ready to learn about religion, teach her about different kinds and let her decide what she wants to do. After all it is her life.

They make automobiles that are gentle and have larger wheels then regularly occurring matchbox automobiles. My son enjoyed those. i might stay far off from candy at 18 months. somewhat crammed animal like a bunny may well be lovable too or some balls that are actually not too small like juggling balls. With my son I went to a keep like objective of Walmart and went to the toy section and found age acceptable issues i ought to put in the basket that weren't too huge. as properly at 18 months he does not desire a great deal purely a pair of issues...you do no longer desire to weigh down him afterall.

It is not too late but, I think I would look at why I wasn't going to Mass. Why would you want to baptize someone so they could just stay home---as a parent you are responsible in raising them in the Faith and it doesn't sound like your doing that now so what would change if you had her baptized?

your baby does not need to be baptized because she is not accountable for her sins yet. After she is old enough to understand what sin is and what Jesus did on the cross and she is truly sorry for her sins, then she can be saved by confessing her sins to God and believing in Jesus. Then, she can be baptized to show everyone that she has been saved. This is what the Bible teaches.
God Bless!

Baptism is a symbol of dedication to God. How can a baby make that decision of dedication? Why did Jesus get baptized at the age of 28? Do not worry! Your kid will be fine. Concentrate in teaching your kid about God; in time, it would be your kid's decision of what path to follow.

i wasnt baptized untill i was 8 years old. Then i was able to make a decision on my own. It was more of a personal thing than a traditional thing. It means more when the person is older cause they actually WANT TO.
