Because they don't know what the Bible says.
I am saved and don't have to worry about it...The bible tells me so....... "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand" (John 10:28-29
Ephesians 4:30 tells us that believers are "sealed for the day of redemption." If believers did not have eternal security, the sealing could not truly be unto the day of redemption, but only to the day of sinning, apostasy, or disbelief. John 3:15-16 tells us that whoever believes in Jesus Christ will "have eternal life."
Romans 8:38-39, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
I have been purchased by Christ, and sealed by the Holy Spirit.

I am not sure what you mean by the term free will baptists but I think I get the gist of the question. There is no such thing as once saved, always saved because that would imply that once you are saved you are perfect. I have yet to meet anyone who is perfect so perhaps that is what is the loss of salvation being considered. However, I will add that in Phill 1:6 it says that the work that was begun will continue til the day of Jesus Christ...or once you have been saved, God does not abandon you simply because you continue to stumble along the way. He simply waits for you to dust yourself off and allow Him to get back to work at perfecting what has been manifested in you.

Baptists throw hell fire and brimstone in your face every week while secretly binge drinking and other evils when they think no one is looking. I being a now reformed baptist thank god I realized the whole brain washing technique at an early age.Yes you can lose religion and no there is not a one time only get saved get into heaven guarantee!!! It takes a lifetime of doing whats right, not standing on the pulpit and just preaching it.

Why do free will baptists believe they can lose salvation? Simple. Because they are not saved and don't believe the words of Jesus when He affirms eternal security, (Once saved, always saved.) John 11:26. Whosoever liveth and believeth on me shall never die. John 6:47. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. John 10:28. And I give unto them eternal life and they shall NEVER perish!!!!

Dear Blondie: It is not that you can loose it; it is that you can give it up. Giving up our salvation by insisting on living like the devil while claiming to be Christians is rampart, specially within the Baptist movement. Mormons are right in there with the same belief. That is the correct and true version on this salvation business.
Mr. M. on "why."

ah, the "once saved, always saved" routine.
this argument can go on for days with some Baptists.
A person has a relationship with the Lord for 30 years, do the will of God, love Him with all His heart. One day he slips, commits a sin, does not ask for forgiveness and dies. Is he heaven? Does he deserve to go, even when that one sin separates you from God?
Do people assume he NEVER was saved, even when he loved the Lord and did His will for those years?
That blows that theory right out of water.

Well, hooray for the Free Will Baptists, and I do mean that.
Some people promote a very attractive idea: All true Christians, regardless of how they live, have an absolute assurance of salvation, once they accept Jesus into their hearts as "their personal Lord and Savior." The problem is that this belief is contrary to the Bible & constant Christian teaching.
Recall this Scripture: "If we have died with him [in baptism; see Rom. 6:3-4] we shall also live with him; if we persevere we shall also reign with him" (2 Tim. 2:11-12). So, ff we do NOT persevere, we shall NOT reign with him. In other words, Christians can forfeit heaven. Jesus tells us, "He who endures to the end will be saved" (Matt. 24:13; cf. 25:31-46). Ergo, if you do not endure to the end, well........
The Bible makes it clear that Christians have a moral assurance of salvation (God will be true to his word and will grant salvation to those who have faith in Christ and are obedient to him [1 John 3:19-24]), but the Bible does NOT teach that Christians have a guarantee of heaven. There can be no absolute assurance of salvation. The Bible says, "See, then, the kindness and severity of God: severity toward those who fell, but God's kindness to you, provided you remain in his kindness, otherwise you too will be cut off" (Rom. 11:22-23; Matt. 18:21-35, 1 Cor. 15:1-2, 2 Pet. 2:20-21).
Note that this includes an important condition: "provided you remain in his kindness." It is saying that Christians can lose their salvation by throwing it away. He warns, "Whoever thinks he is standing secure should take care not to fall" (1 Cor. 10:11-12). , Paul admitted that even he could fall away: "I pummel my body and subdue it, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified" (1 Cor. 9:27). In saying this he points out that even he cannot be infallibly sure of his own present state or of his future salvation.
As a Catholic, when someone asks me if I have been "saved," I answer: "I am redeemed by the blood of Christ, I trust in him alone for my salvation, and, as the Bible teaches, I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), knowing that it is God's gift of grace that is working in me."

God Bless the Free Will Baptists, for they are in agreement, at least on this issue, with the Holy Catholic Church.

This is one extreme of a certain view in theology.
The opposite view is that no matter how bad you act, you still go to Heaven.
Oddly enough, both could be true simultaneously.
Most sensible people think you could lose it but you really have to work at it. And then if you actually want to lose it you never really had it in the first place.
