You seem very concerned about other people and their beliefs, but....

Do you know yourself?

All the great philosophers say this is vital toward all understanding (and since your mind creates everything about you... who will disagree ;-)

So, can you honestly say that you know yourself?

I've been reassessing my beliefs, but I feel an emptiness and I really want to find somewhere to fill that void. I'm looking for a Christian religion that's pretty liberal without a lot of dogma attached (a basic belief in God and Jesus, but more openmindedness toward liberal beliefs). The churches in my town are Presbyterian, Methodist, Catholic, and Baptist.

Is this some subtle form of race hatred which is based on religion ? Or on what ?

We have all heard you explain how ‘religion’ is just a way for simple minded people to comfort themselves.

Well, why isn’t your materialistic view of the world the same thing?

Could there be anything more comforting then a belief that there is nothing after death (peace, nothingness, all your actions disappearing into a great void…)?

Or, how about a mechanistic view of reality… everything is a chain of physical events…. all measurable, predictable, knowable… sounds comforting to me…

So, could it be that you too are only seeking comfort? Your views are so… easy, what else can I learn from them?

In the United States Jews, Catholics, Protestants, and Muslims get along in relative peace. Other than the occasional jerk that makes a slur, religious groups here simply share the country. Why can't the same happen in Israel?
