Giving God the highest honor would acknowledge the divinity within ourselves (we're more than just animals, we're special creations of God), and enable us all to regard one another with love instead of fear.

That's not just a platitude I just wrote, it's something I truly believe in. Think about it: to "honor" something is to set it apart from the rest- the very definition of "to make holy"- we recognize the special nature of something and elevate it.

We set something apart in honor, we establish it as a standard above us- someone who is honorable, who is noble or heroic or possessing some other great quality that is rare and beautiful- it means we strive for that within ourselves. We give God the highest honor because we yearn for something beyond this world of pain and fear and death.

God made us a promise through first Abraham, and then his Son Yeshua (whom we now call "Jesus"). He told us that if we walk a righteous path, love one another and keep God #1 in our lives, that we would be saved from death.

There are many groups around the world who say that they already do. Look what that's gotten us. More people have died in the name of "God" than for any other reason. Giving God "the highest honor" would mean different things to different people--that's just the nature of the beast. People would argue about just how much honor he was being given, and inevitably there would be those who believe that their personal way of honoring him was the better.

Giving honor isn't merely expressed in words - honoring God or any other person for that matter connotes actions from a person.
