What were your thoughts about Columbia asking him to speak, what did you feel about what he said and did you feel he prothletized alot? As a Christian, I would be hard pressed to find a Univ like Columbia that would invite a born again Christian who was prothletizing on stage. Do you feel it is a double standard? Not? Free speech to him as well? Thoughts?

I am posting in here because, Im most comfortable here, but also this kind of ties in with religion, I suppose.

First off, I commend you all for sticking to your guns. However, my preacher told me about some of the trials that God gives atheists, and I was thinking that it would be more convenient for you to convert to Christianity.

For example, my preacher told me that atheists can't go out in the sunlight or their skin will burn. Their skin will also burn if they touch a holy relic.

Atheists also can't eat garlic (no Italian food!) or drink holy water. Also, do you guys get surgery to hide your horns, or do you just wear hats everywhere?

Also, I hear that atheists can't eat fillet mignon because they'll die from a steak to the heart.

In light of all these difficulties, don't you think you'd be better off converting?

believe it or not, i'm not trolling. i honestly want to know. my ex-girlfriend was a half saudi arabian filipina, originally from mindanao, philippines. her father, a muslim, did not eat pork, but owned a hog farm in the philippines. i'm curious to know what muslims think of this. is it still against muslim law, since he didn't eat the stuff, or is it even worse, since he was contributing toward the consumption of pork products? thanks.

Has the human species always had both males and females, or did the species, at some point reproduce asexually/some other way? If you think there hasn't always been both male and female, could you explain how it came to be that there are male and female today, and how it worked out they they can together reproduce?

Thank you in advance if you answer, I know it is an unusual question!

By accepting Jesus' death and allowing Him to enter our hearts; we become ' saved.' I prefer to say, " I've come into a personal relationship with Jesus." Being saved isn't a one-time experience. We need to walk daily with Jesus. Attending Mass often, gives us grace to stay close to Jesus. Partaking of the Eucharist, brings Jesus into the center of our very spirit and allows Him to reign within us, guiding us into a life centered in Him.

Truth is, WE ARE SAVED! The very blood that saved that man witnessing on the street is the same blood that has saved you and me! As Catholics we are Christians saved by the blood of Christ! You and I have been reborn by water and the Holy Spirit in baptism. We are fed with Christ's body and blood in the Eucharist. We receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation. We are SAVED and don't let anyone try to tell you that you aren't!

This is what we believe in so how can you say Catholics are not saved?

Seriously, it seems to be the raison d'etre of most of them. I asked a question on Yahoo Answers recently, in which I specifically asked them not to bother replying (since they don't accept its premise), but loads of them did. If you press them, they'll claim that they live in a religion-dominated society that won't let them ignore it, that they wish they could. This is patent nonsense; our society is almost entirely secular, and any residual Christian trappings of public life are trivial and ceremonial. I suspect that, even if Christians hid in private chapels and churches, atheists would still obsess over them and seek them out. Richard Dawkins wanted to write The God Delusion for years. Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials is one of the bitterest tirades I've ever read; it has no ideas beyond hitting out at Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. Carl Sagan's Cosmos, after all the soapsy-sudsy humanist rhetoric, ends with a rant against religion. Isn't their zeal rather question-begging?

I have connected with the Holy Spirit within the last 7yrs. I listen to "FaithTalk Radio" at work everyday on the internet while I'm at work. My license plate on my car says "INOHIM2" - I was having a small delima and my friend was offering some advise, and at the end of our talk I told him - I'd have to pray about it in order to get some clarity on the subject. He told me - He believes religion is a bunch of crock. He feels its just a industrialized and commercialized form of sycological warefare and is only for the self absorbed. I told him my religion and my spirituality is a nuturalizer / a shock obsorber for the all the many things that come from being in the world. I was a little bit hurt by him thinking I was to emotionally charged. I felt like he questioned my sensarity and the love I have for my spiritual comforter. What should I think about him. should I tone down who I am around him. or limit my being around him...... WHAT

Is it even worth it, anymore, to ask questions here in religion and spirituality?

I don't mind answers that disagree with my viewpoint.

But, I DO mind when the answerer completely disregards the question.

Someone just answered my honest question, that bothered me throughout the day, until I could come home to ask it, by informing me that I look like an emo clown in my avatar picture. As a side note in their answer, that's fine; I'd probably find it funny, even, but when they don't even bother to consider my question, but answer it anyway, therefore wasting the time it will take me to read it, it's quite annoying....

Most people claim that religion is a private matter, between the person and their lord.

If the same people who claim this, allow their religious beliefs to be argued about in public, do they nullify their own statement about religion being a private matter?

I am asking you more "spiritual" people...
Do you give away stars ?
If you do, what is the criteria for giving away a star ?
Do you give that star just to people who are somehow "popular" in your eyes,or do you give it to somebody who isn't popular but asks a good question ?
If not,why ?

[[Yes, I know you'll all disagree, and block me and such. But I don't care. It's my question, and I'm asking anyway.]]

Apparently, suicide is a "sin."

However, Jesus was said to have "died for our sins." This implies that either Jesus willingly died for our sins, and therefore committed a form of suicide, or God KILLED Jesus for our sins. In the first possibility, Jesus was a sinner, in the second, God is the sinner.

Which is it?
