I am a Deist, but I attend a non-denominational Christian Church with my wife. Yesterday, before church, I was feeling somewhat depressed and my anxiety was high for no particular reason. At church, many of the people were friendly to me. I got hugs from several ladies and social interaction with many of the men about things like football, work, etc. (Of course, none of them know I am not a Christian) Our kids were playing and having fun. The music which was played by the Christian Rock band sounded nice. I must admit that all of these things made me feel better. As I stood there listening to the music, I could not help but wonder if this warm, fuzzy feeling that I got from the music, social interaction and friendly people is what people mistake for being God or the Holy Spirit. I, being familiar with the ridiculous inconsistencies of the Bible, was able to remain grounded in reality, but I could see how someone who desperately wanted to believe in a higher power could think this warm, fuzzy feeling, was something supernatural. My question is: Anyone that knows anything about human psychology knows that being warm and friendly to one another, listening to music, and helping each other can dramatically lift the spirits of people. So, what do you think made me feel better yesterday? Was it God, or was it simply nice people and social interaction? I believe it was the latter.

I had one, two years ago....long story, but i have been on here, asking about the afterlife, as a friend passed last week, and i am trying to console another friend, as i am convinced they are in the Spirit World now, as i have *seen* it for myself.
I was given a link to a website, all about Near Death Experience, and i am gobsmacked! at the things i read. Not only, have i changed as a person, i have become very! compassionate, to the needs of others, i always was, but i am more so now. I took in a homeless pregnant girl, for a short period, as she needed help, even though, it was very inconvenient, as i have a large family, but i had to help her, i wanted to. I have also acquired an aversion to meat????? i LOVED meat, before my accident, and experience, but for some unknown reason, i cannot! stomach it. I live on fish. The site said, in most cases, NDE r`s develop an aversion to meat! I am totally gobsmacked now, could this just be a coincidence?

The Devil says that nobody really loves Jehovah.
He says that YOU & I don't love God
and that we don't really want to do what God says.
He says that we obey Jehovah only
when everything goes the way we like it.
Is the Devil right ?
Are we like that ?

I think it's more the other way around.
We look to God, lean upon Him,
when things aren't going the way we like them to be.

I know, not every1 loves God.
That's why I addressed this 2 Christians, of all sects.
The Devil is the Enemy of the human race.

(Oh, and if you don't already know, you'll have to look into a less-than-favorable industry to a less-than-favored individual's quote)

According to Parade magazine, he is a strong Christian (just not a political conservative), and he teaches Sunday School occasionally!

I like seeing evidence of a Religious Left in the media, and while I'm not Christian, I bet Stephen Colbert would be an awesome Sunday School teacher.

I was driving down a four lane divided boulevard around lunch time today (Monday) in light traffic, when I saw the police cleaning up a traffic accident. There was a convertible in the middle of the grassy raised medium that was turned sideways and had its passenger side smashed in by the light pole that obviously stopped it. I hoped that there wasn't a passenger in the car, because the pole was where he should have been.

I worked briefly as an accident investigator for auto insurance companies shortly after graduating with a BS in engineering, but I couldn't figure out off the top of my head how it was possible for a driver, on dry pavement and a sunny day, to do this.

Insert whatever philosophical or religious comment that you want about the fragility of life, or idiot drivers. You decide.

So here we have it, an attempt brough on by CWN to prohibit mockery of Jesus Christ.. As far as I can tell it was started today..

From the petition site:
"It's time for Christians to stand up and say, "Enough is Enough!" The name of Jesus Christ should not be mocked, nor should those who love Him be slandered for their beliefs. It is time for people of faith around the country to stand firm against religious slander, bias, and bigotry of all types including Christianity. "

So tell me Christians of this site, is America going the way of the middle east? Will you sign your country away to your religion?

A lot of times when people talk about their relationships with people who don't have the same religious views they do, the say the relationship works because they "just don't talk about it." (At least, I've seen that here on R&S many times.)

This really confuses me. I'm a Christian and most my friends aren't. But I don't side-step the religious issue. It's part of who I am, and a part of me that they accept. We talk about our thoughts and opinions on religious and philosophical issues quite a bit. It's always been the same way when I've dated people who weren't Christians, too.

What do you think? In your relationships with someone of a different religion (or someone who has religious beliefs when you do not), do you usually avoid the subject or do you explore and embrace your differences?

If god commanded you to trick people into believing a "proof of god" miracle occurred, would you, for example, rig a crucifix to drip blood? Wouldn't this commandment from god be a test of your faith?

p.s. Before you call this test from god ridiculous, you might want to try reading the Bible again. It would fit right in.

Atheist believe there is no God/no existence of a God
Agnostic believe that it's impossible to KNOW that God existence.
Do you think there's a difference in these two definitions or do they pretty much mean the same thing?

Poor Abel never got to spread his gene's on earth. And now we all have to contend with being descendents of Cane. Why wasn't God the keeper of HIS creation? Did HE have to much going on? Wasn't God a little hard on Cane to begin with. Was it the greed that bothered God? I mean HELLO isn't there a little bit more today than in those days.

how much Bible study had you already done? Would you say you were a:

1) Bible novice;
2) a beginner;
3) that you had moderate knowledge of the Scriptures;
4) or would you say you had expert knowledge of the Scriptures?

Did you participate in any FORMAL study, under the guidance of an ordained minister or Bible scholar? If so, how long did you FORMALLY study the Bible before you studied with the JWs?

Isaiah 59:16 says, He saw that there was NO MAN, And wondered that there was no intercessor; THEREFORE HIS OWN ARM BROUGHT SALVATION FOR HIM......"

Psalms 98:1 says, His RIGHT HAND AND HOLY ARM HAVE GAINED HIM THE VICTORY."

Isaiah 51:5 says, "And My ARMS will Judge the people; The coastlands will wait upon Me, And on my ARM they will trust.

Will Jesus Judge? Are we to truth in Jesus?

Psalms 118:16 says, The right hand of the LORD is EXALTED; The right hand of the LORD does valiantly. Was Jesus exalted?

Isaiah 48:13 says, "AND MY RIGHT HAND HAS STRETCHED OUT THE HEAVENS."

Without Him (Jesus) nothing was made that which was made.

Isaiah 66:2 says, "FOR ALL THOSE THINGS MY HAND HAS MADE......"

SO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED? WHEN WILL THE GLORY OF JESUS BE REVEALED?

Can God swear by anyone Greater than Himself? No. Isaiah 62:8 says, The LORD has sworn by HIS RIGHT HAND AND BY THE ARM OF HIS STRENGTH.

PERHAPS JESUS IS JUST GOD!

The rest of us do right simply because it is right, no "eternal damnation" necessary. The only reason I can see that anyone would say such a thing, is that they speak from their own feelings. Is religion the only thing keeping these people from going postal?
