This is supposed to be a free society with the right to freedom of expression granted to all. I find it amusing how so many people want to bar the Iranian head of state from speaking at Columbia in the name of "American freedom". Such obvious hypocrisy. I don't like the guy either. He's the head of state of a totalitarian terrorist theocracy. But when he's in the United States, he has the right to express his views no matter how objectionable many of us may find them. To deny him that right makes us no better than him and his ilk.

He ought tpo be allowed to have his say, it will be interesting no doubt. Though pessimistic in many areas, sometimes I have hope that a guy like him will actually say something positive, constructive and effective. Though it's quite unlikely, he ought at least to be given the chance.
If we can't have faith in humanity, then what can we have faith in?
Well, maybe any type of faith is foolish, but at least we can all hope.
