I was thinking that it would make a great story. I'd even settle for a made for television one. Especially when he was doing missionary work for the JW's, his life was in danger because they were at war in the D.R.

If they would just read the Doctrines of the Church themselves, they would see that they are clearly supported in Sacred Scripture. The accusations I have seen on this Q&A are unfounded but accepted as truth.

"If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, 21: but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.” ---- Exodus 21:20-21

From what I can surmise a ribbed woman was convinced by a talking walking snake to eat poison from a magic tree. And the hits just keep on coming.

This was a response to an earlier question:
"atheists here that have not converted yet are only here for one reason, to learn more about God because they are fence sitters still not sure if they want to jump in. REAL atheists like I used to be would never hang out in a place such as this that is full of religion."

So do you think this accurately describes the Atheist on R&S?

Atheist and Theist alike are welcome to respond.

I'm not talking just about religion of choice, but issues like premarital sex, attending church regulary, how often you read the bible, etc.

I mean, it is called religion and spirituality, and there aint much of either going on for atheists, right?

Or are views expressed in the R&S area an attempt to convert others to the same view...is that why this place is so popular? Everybody trying to change minds? Switch teams?

I know alot of people will say that they aren't here to convert anyone, but it just became obvious that is probably the case, at least for some, as I read another question.

I mean, just take a look around you, this earth, the sun, the moon, the stars, the universe, you think all this formed by some cosmic accident, that put everything perfectly in place? that takes more faith to believe than it does to believe that God created everything..

does it make you wonder why your opinion is not very popular, especially when your idea may have been more popular a few years back? is it enough to make you question your beliefs just a little bit?

On my last question, I asked whether you would feel as though you are nothing without your faith in God.

I received many heartfelt answers, which I appreciate.

I noticed, however, that some of you told stories about how you were depressed and then found God and your life completely changed for the better.

Is it possible, then, that finding God was actually just a way of remedying your feelings of hopelessness, emptiness, and/or depression? Is it possible that because you found hope in your religion, your attitude changed and that is why your life began to change for the better (rather than God improving your life for you)?

Atheists, would you agree that some seem to just need religion to deal with depressive feelings? And if you do agree, do you think it is okay for them to do so?

this is just a statement and not a question. yet when presented with evidence you find a way to dismiss it. i am reminded of a story this atheist and this christian live next door to each other and the christian was struggling to make end meet and the atheist tells him how foolish he is to believe in a God that cant feed him or clothe him so one night the christian is praying and crying for God to make a way for him so the atheist goes out and buys a bill of groceries and withdraws a couple of dollars from his account and decides to leave it on the christians door step he goes home and he hears the christian praising God for the food and money and the atheist runs over and curses the man and tell him he did it for him and not God. so the christian says thank you God for using the devil to bless me.
