I mean, it is called religion and spirituality, and there aint much of either going on for atheists, right?
Or are views expressed in the R&S area an attempt to convert others to the same view...is that why this place is so popular? Everybody trying to change minds? Switch teams?
I know alot of people will say that they aren't here to convert anyone, but it just became obvious that is probably the case, at least for some, as I read another question.

Shouldn't the Christians be in the Mythology section?

LOL! Dictionary's definition of atheist: persons not inclined toward religious belief or a particular form of religious belief.
If you are not of a religion and deny the existence of God, why would you participate in a religious discussion area? If you're a guy, would you be in the pregnancy forum trying to tell women that the baby they're carrying doesn't exist?
I've noticed a few types of people here:
-Religion & Bible bashers
-Atheists
-The unintelligent who have no answer so they post a sarcastic, ridiculous reply
-Those who answer from and reason on the Bible
- Those so deficient in spelling and grammar that you can't understand what they're saying
- Those who have honests questions and would like an honest reply

Wrong. Actually there are a few atheist(myself included) that are spiritual people and we find discussion of these topics fascinating(or at least I do). You need to remember that spirituality has nothing to do with the belief in a god or a religion, it's got more to do with personal faith and enlightenment.

Thank you for mentioning the science section. Now the fundies will know where to go to ask their questions on evolution.
BTW- I live in an area in Georgia that is mostly "Christian". African Americans were successfully "discouraged" from living here until the 1980s. Seems like some Christians like excluding others, doesn't it?

Somehow I don't think that there are people in philosophy or science trying to remove people's rights to be different or believe differently, as many religious people do.
If you want to watch out for the wolves, you don't do so on the nature channel ... you go instead out to the fields to keep the wolves away from your sheep. Hence, I'm here.

Since the concept of God is irrational, maybe all Christian believers should be banned from R&S. Only rational people should be allowed to participate.

so you think that for a person to be interested, knowledgeable, and opinionated regarding religious or spiritual topics they must adhere to a religious or spiritual philosophy? or that to have a valid opinion they must believe in something or another?
i think you are mistaken. I am of no particular religion, yet religious history is one of my main interests, and religious philosophy is my BA minor

Spirituality, while often linked to religion, is independent of the latter. One can hold no belief in God or gods and still be spiritual.
Additionally, religion permeates our society. Whether this should or should not be the case, it is true. Therefore everyone should be welcome to discuss its issues and debate its relevance - and this is an appropriate forum.

Atheism is a matter of faith. It should remain in R&S.
Or all of it could go into myths and mythology or philosophy.
There is a good argument for combining R&S with politics to save people time.
