He absolutely was. Women were not pemitted to speak in church. They had to wait until they got home to ask their husband a question. The were not permitted to hold any position of authority over men. He also was a racist. Slaves had to obey their masters. Talkabout a missed opportunity for "god" here. Instead of Paul denouncing slavery, after all a god who delivered the hebrews from bondage would know that slavery is WRONG, he sets rules for slaves. That is pure sickness, and a missed opportunity. And what do the apologists say? That was the culture of the time. Yea right. god was too worried about culture to set things straight.

I think he was sexist. He was truthful, in the fact that he did say, that these opinions are his, and that he feels he has the right to express them as the Lord's because he is guided by our messiah. THe times were sexist though, so it's not like Paul was the only one with these views. Back then, that's how women were, and those women who were a bit "modern" were , considered loose, even if they weren't loose with their bodies, if they were loose with the tongue, this was also a perpetual stereiotype of women. This type of thinking still lprevails in certain societies today as well. But I must say, where many men were a bit ambiguous about things reguarding women, where we could interpret things in different contexts...Paul was very clear on what he thought the Lord expected of a woman HE considered worthy of the kingdom.

Paul was not sexist at all. Some of the early churches in Paul's day were led by women that he even worked with. Some of his instructions were specifically for a certain group of people, and we can still learn from their wisdom today. Example: one such place (Corinth) the women were not respected and not allowed to speak in public. Paul's instruction was for Christian women to be silent in public meetings and discuss things in private at a later time. The logic for this was not because they were not equal, but because Christianity in this culture would be looked down upon because if went against the culture. Don't get me wrong, God and following Him come first. But if it doesn't go against God's commands, in order to reach people and be accepted in their culture, sometimes we need to sacrifice things for the greater good. knowing that someday God will bring enlightenment to a dark world.
A quote worth remembering: "In matters of principle, stand like a rock. In matters of taste, go with the flow."

I believe I know what you are speaking about there are some passages in Corinthians that were kind of against women but if you look at the context its not like that at all. Paul was speaking to the women in Corinth who were kind of loose. They had no respect for their husbands and not very lady like. So that is why Paul added that in.

Paul was far from a sexist, he appointed many females over churches.

Saint Paul was a pervert. By day he wrote his holy epistles, and by night he was involved in an activity quite otherly.

No not at all. Paul taught that all are one in Christ and that there is no difference between male and female jew or gentile.

Galatians 3:26-28

You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,
for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
