i believe in god(s) and a heaven of sorts, but no hell. i think hell is used by religions as a figurative metaphor representational of being eternally in a state of spiritual distance from god, thus possibly leaving the spirit in a state of unrest... though i don't really believe this to be true either. if there is a such thing as hell, it is nothing more than a state of restlessness affecting the spirit after bodily death for whatever reason, and i do believe that a spirit in such a state can be put to rest and released from any lasting turmoil. so as for your survey: why--C (the idea of a literal hell is ridiculous, impractical, and perfectly heartless) i think hell is--D (not a state of mind, but a state of the spirit IF anything at all)

Do you believe in hell? Yes
Why: (C) other, please explain

1. Jesus taught there was. 2. If there is a Heaven, there must be a Hell. Two sides of a coin.

(D) a literal place for: unbelievers, and for those who die in mortal sin. I think Dante had it right with his circles of Hell (different levels)

No, I don't.

I don't believe in Hell because a belief in Hell assumes a belief that there is an afterlife, and I don't believe that there is an afterlife.

I think Hell does not exist, therefore has no function or state of being.

I don't believe in Heaven, for the reasons stated above.

I don't believe in God, as I consider that that which we consider "God" is a projection of our human hopes, fears, and longings onto a great "father figure."

If everyone In hell has worms, there will always be fish bait, but you loose every fish before you get it in! Religions are man made philosophies that help make people not fear death as much. Most wars and deaths caused by human on human violence, was and is caused by religions. The Crusades killed millions, because ultimately the Catholics wanted to be the worlds rulers. I believe it's going to be very interesting to see if there is another world to go to after our death. I think Jesus would be very angry with those who killed in his name , just as those who kill the peaceful who try to follow his teachings.
no Hell, but I hope we can see light at the end of the tunnel.

No, I don't believe in Hell.

Because I don't believe that the soul maintains cohesiveness or consciousness after death, so the idea of a place of eternal suffering (or eternal reward) doesn't make sense to me.

I think after death the energy that makes me unique (my spirit or soul) returns to the universe, regardless of what type of life I lived on earth.

No, I don't believe in heaven.

Yes, I believe in God, but not the Abrahamic concept of Deity.

I believe there is something beyond what we are experiencing here and that we don't just cease to be. Something has caused us into being - God, if you will. Heaven and hell? Just someone's thoughts on the subject.
