this is just a statement and not a question. yet when presented with evidence you find a way to dismiss it. i am reminded of a story this atheist and this christian live next door to each other and the christian was struggling to make end meet and the atheist tells him how foolish he is to believe in a God that cant feed him or clothe him so one night the christian is praying and crying for God to make a way for him so the atheist goes out and buys a bill of groceries and withdraws a couple of dollars from his account and decides to leave it on the christians door step he goes home and he hears the christian praising God for the food and money and the atheist runs over and curses the man and tell him he did it for him and not God. so the christian says thank you God for using the devil to bless me.

Nice story, but if your evidence consists of similar stories then no wonder it's dismissed. Likewise you should ask yourself: why is the "evidence" I present dismissed? Perhaps I'm accepting "evidence" because I believe and it is not really evidence.

To help you determine what evidence is, some bad and good examples of evidence:
1. The human brain is evidence of god - bad, there are not significant differences between human and other brains, at least not enough to show that it was intelligently designed or created.
2. An inscription was recently found with Pontius Pilate on it - good, it shows that Pilate existed and adds credence to the gospels.
3. Fossils on mountain tops - bad, the fossils are dated to different times and earth science shows that ocean bottoms become mountain and vice versa.
4. Egyptian stele mentions Israel - good, gives evidence that Israel existed and indicates that they were in existence for some time.

The point is that evidence needs to be evaluated in light of everything that we know, and you can not just assert it's meaning without having it being backed up.

Edit:
Yes, you told a story - but that story is made up and based on conjecture. This is true of most of the "evidence" presented by believers, it is largely conjecture wrapped around a single fact.

This isn't an example of the existence of "God". It is an example of the connection between humanity.

What is sad is that the guy who says he is a Christian has his eyes so closed that he had an opportunity to build a bridge to another by THANKING the man who brought him food and money but he didn't. Instead, he refers to him as something derogatory. That is a fine example of the UNGRATEFUL nature of so many.

You have interestingly summed up what has gone completely wrong with those who claim to be religious. The complete disregard for your fellow humans.

What is comical is the person you have described as Athiest was being kind and considerate to his neighbour only to see why religious people get so much grief.

You don't care about the rest of the world, only those who follow your religion and if they don't follow your religion, then they are somehow "wrong".

There's a whole world out there and you might do well to start acknowledging it and caring about it.

You have also answered the question asked by so many Christians about how Athiest people can be moral and live good lives. They don't need a book to tell them to care about their fellow creatures , they just do.

Sad, really.

I have NEVER, EVER been presented with ANY evidence to show god is real.

Being told to look out the window at the sky and the trees etc, is hardly proof as I happen to know exactly how both things were formed. Trust me it was nothing to do with an imaginary flying creature.

God is part of our intangible world. He does not have mass or take up space, and so science can not provide a PROOF of his existance. One must be reminded that Thought, itself, is in the same catagory, can we say it also does not exist?
Most people REASON that there is a CAUSE for all things.
(A designer or archetect) We create first with the mind (before it manifests onto the physical plane) Ex. the making of a chair........etc. Think, concept,drawing,building....
The universe was void and darkness...God said "let there be light" The light is CONCIOUSNESS... His and Ours.

So the Christian calls the atheist who helps him out the devil?

Your story has nothin to do with your question.
There is no evidence for the existence of God.

How is that story proof?

The atheist was simply being nice. It wasn't god, it was the atheist neighbor that did it.

Religious belief is an emotion.

Evidence for it is not needed.

Evidence against it is not appropriate.

If you believe in religion, fine; have fun with it.

Wow, that story illustrates nothing but how deep indoctrination goes.

So anyway... where's this incontrovertible proof you have? Oh, and which god is is the proof for again? I mean, there are so many...

I 'm pretty sure there's a joke section here for these types of stories. It sounds more like a parody for Mad TV. Why don't you send it in?
