"If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, 21: but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.” ---- Exodus 21:20-21

Good question. Maybe because the men who wrote the Bible enjoyed beating their slaves and did not want to be punished for it.

Did you even read it Primoa? It says that if they regain consciousness and are able to stand within a day or two, that the owner is not to be punished, because the slave is his property. We have a word in English for that. It is called "permission".
Gary, nothing in the law there or elsewhere specifies what they may or may not beat their slaves for. It just says they are their property, and they may be beaten.

Because HE was a male and got off on that stuff. HE also did things to the female slaves that aren't in the GOOD BOOK. But it is interesting to note the kind of people that these religions come from. What do you think males did with female slaves, the possibilities are endless. Middle East MALE foolery written 2000 years ago.

First, it wasn't just females, it was all slaves. Second, you have no idea what the beating was for. They were told to treat their slaves and foreigners justly. The beatings were most likely for crimes deserving punishment. It is only your attitude that reads unjust punishment into them.

Cause god allowed slavery, and there are other places in the Bible too.

But he did not allow false gods. If a man comes home and finds his family worshiping a false god, he is entirely within his rights to stone them. With rocks, that is.

Until they're dead? I don't know, maybe just until they recant.

What part of " since the slave is his property"

do you not understand? Maybe you should ask why does the UN allow such actions today, or why do the god of islam allow such things today, or would that require too much thinking on your part?

Did you read this? Only a fool would take one scripture and make such an assumption. I guess at least your are reading the Bible. By the way, the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament. Read some more to get a more accurate picture. Good luck.

The god of the old testament was modelled after petty tyrant kings the Hebrews were familiar with.

20 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand: he shall be surely punished. This is referring to the Laws about murder.

Dude, look at the source. Who do you think wrote all that stuff? It's the same people who stone women today if they so much as look at a man or show too much flesh.
