I don't consider myself a Christian. The best description for me is a "hybrid." What I mean by this is that I can see the good in most religions/spiritual systems. My religious practices often include "a little of this" and "a little of that". Yes, I believe in Jesus Christ but I'm not sure that I give him the same "weight" as people who consider themselves "true Christians. My parents are Baptists, I practiced Catholicism as a kid. I attended the Baptist Church as an adult, I've believe that the Yoruba spiritual system has a lot to offer. I think the Budda are pretty cool. I have great respect and reverence for many of the Jewish practices. I don't think I fit in anywhere.

You seem to be assuming that religions are all made up, and you might as well pick one as the other. Believing as I do that Christianity is something real, my answer has to be "that will never happen."

However, if Christianity were not the real description of how the real God really is, I think I would pick Buddhism because it has such a nice, tolerant-sounding ring to it. Implausible, of course, and just as absolutist as any other religion, but it's the one that sounds the nicest. All assuming that no religion were actually TRUE, of course.

I am atheist but if I were to belong to a religion it would be Buddhism.

Oops I misread the question...ignore the atheist response. This question is asked to atheists so often I did realize you were directing the question to Christians.

Ok, that won't happen again.

I was a Christian, now an atheist. I can't say that any belief system appeals to me now.

Why not? Don't be chicken!!!

You might meet some one there!

If it is fun, it is fun alone. Just don't be embarrassed. For all anyone knows, you are with some one, or meeting up later, yet you are free to hit on a "third wheel"!
