I just have a quick question and before I ask it I want to set some guidelines. I am a Christian and am not here to bash you or convert you. I also would like it if you did not answer my question with another question. Also I am not here to bash you and showing you respect so I would hope you will do the same and anyone showing disrespect on here no matter what side you fall on just goes to prove why noone would want to believe in what you do. The question is what does an atheist do to better the country or moral stand points on things like volunteering or helping out someone in need? I'm not asking this to be a dumb question or put you down I honestly want to know the answer.

unreleastic expectations from its current Yahoo Answers model, with the obligatory absurd punitive measures derived from flawed expectations?

Or do you use Google or other portals for all your other service needs, knowing that Yahoo may delete everything of yours out of the blue one day, all because some Answers users are way too uptight?

Religion and Spirituality is the primary category where these absurdities come into play, why do you think that is compared to the other categories which seem less likely to be a lightning rod for reporting campaigns?

why do people believe in something that is so obviously fake? they make fun of ancient civilizations who thought there were gods of thunder, and love, and oceans etc...isn't that pretty much what christians, catholics, and almost all other religions do?? blame some sort of nonexistent entity as an explanation for their mishaps and shortcomings?

Are you kidding me? I was referred to as a "fundie moron" in an answer I received from a previous question, not to mention, small-minded. Ok folks, I am extremely well-versed. There is absolutely NOTHING moronic or small-minded about me. Am I ignorant? In some instances, I am ignorant when it comes to certain subjects/issues, which I, in turn, conduct vigorous research in an effort to "school" myself in that particular area. There's no logic in the concept/cliche' that "ignorance is bliss." The fact that I am a devout Christian woman does not make me moronic/small-minded. Throwing out insults and taking part in the act of name-calling is far more moronic and small-minded. Besides that, 90% of these type responses I received (and continue receiving), have tons of misspelled words. If your going to throw out insults and revert to childhood w/ name-calling, please, at the very least, have the knowledge to back your opinions.

Mary was created sinless through the Grace of Our Lord. In this manner, She was the first human Vessel of the Holy Spirit. I am not equating Her with God, I am just saying that as surely as the Son of God merged with flesh in Jesus, the Holy Spirit merged with the flesh in the Holy Virgin.

Opinions?

i have been perusing the questions today, and although it seems obvious to me that harry potter is just a book, fictional, imaginative, enjoyable, and has morals, there are some frankly strange people who have banned their children from reading the books or watching the films.
have any of these people ever seen wizard of oz? read enid blyton? etc

why do they think harry potter is so evil?!
i know they will mention witches and they think we all go round eating babies and drinking goats blood, but are they that naive that they think reading a fictional tale can actually harm their children?

*sigh*

i have to admit i am becoming rather exasperated by it all, and i have a very patient nature!

so, please explain, what will reading the books and/or watching the films ACTUALLY do to christian children?

many thanks in advance for coherent and non-insulting answers - i am curious and wish to be 'educated' :)

I am sure it has made Him very sad to see and here all the hate and fighting in his name throughout the centuries up to the present. Fighting and hate were not his message. People who do this in his name are/were not true followers. His message was/is of hope, love, kindness, acceptance and forgivness. That should be the Chritians' message to the world today.

Can most of us agree on this one?

Do you think that you reject a Heavenly father becasue of it?

this doesn't mean that a believer does not have the same issue, I just wonder if you think there is a connection to it at all?

1 . In the beginning there was singularity.
2 . All the components of life, death, and all that ever was to be were as one.
3 . Within his hands, singularity was contained.

6 . Life's only motivation is to thrive and to be, no matter the cost.

I've seen the suggestion that we change our title to something new, warm, and friendly.

Which do you value more, the truth or the package it comes in? Liberals have become Progressives, Conservatives are now Compassionate Conservatives, and I hear that Joy is "New" and improved. Do you really trust them more for the oily smoothness of their reinvention?

Here is a novel thought, let us forward our ideas by the use of of compelling and well reasoned arguments. Reason has the advantage of being an honest appeal, and not an act of manipulation. New labels are not needed to forward old truths.

I am an atheist. I am proud of the fact that I have followed where reason has lead. I will not give those that reject my views the appearance of some wrong doing on my part by trying by hiding behind another name.

What do you think?

A new poll shows that nearly half of Christians believe it is acceptable for believers to drink alcohol ---- provided they don't get drunk.

If you think it's ok to drink, are you sure you are a true christian?

Do you wonder about it, like me? It's the very thing that differentiate true Christianity from all other religions.

We talk a good talk, but where is the power? I am not saying that I have the answer; I too want to know. The world sees our large churches, dance teams, music ministries, movie screens, and sophisticated programs, But where is the power of the Holy Spirit? Non believers do not want you to convince them about your Jesus; illustrate His power and raise the dead.
