Atheism changes with every age that comes along. I don't see how the next one could make them any more egotistical than they already are. I would guess within the next 20 or 30 years. It's hard to tell. What youre seeing now is a form of millitant atheism. I think there's a good chance the next form will be more tolerant of others beliefs.
edit: I went back to read some the answers before me, and almost all of them just showed how egotistical they are. hahaha.
Reverend Soleil: being an atheist in itself does not make you egotistical, it's how so many of you, who understand very little about religion to begin with, condescend to religious people. At least that's true on YA.

See? Now you're getting tripped up by your erroneous and fallacious 'understanding' of evolution, again.
One more time: Organisms (creatures) DO NOT 'evolve'. Never happened... never WILL happen. The only people who SAY that scientists claim that organisms evolve are the lying religious puppet-masters who are intent on keeping their minions (you) steeped in scientific ignorance. As you can see... it works.
No... what EVOLVES (changes-over-time) is the genetic makeup of POPULATIONS of organisms... i.e., the 'gene pool'.
So sorry... your only hope then is that the NEXT GENERATION of atheists might be a little less egotistical. Stick around for another 20 or 30 years... we'll see.

You are egotistical when you accuse a wide group of people of being egotistical. There is much variety among atheists, indeed much greater variety than among people who blindly believe nonsense that is illogical and contradictory. Theists are on the way to extinction, since survival of the fittest is a part of evolution. When strict religious groups have taken over nations, these nations declined and were easily conquered by hardier people.

It's not "egotistical" to deny the existence of something there's no evidence for.
You do the same thing every day, when you dismiss out of hand all the other thousands of gods that humanity has worshipped throughout the planet's history.
We simply dismiss one additional god -- yours.

And you really believe that theists are humble? You're no better or worse than anyone else.

Atheists are the apex of biological evolution my friend.
When religious people die out (in some holy war or other) we will be able to drop the name as no human has to be known for some fantasy which is doesnt believe in.

That's a personal journey everyone must take.....many suffer from conceit.
That aside, the answer is when we're proven wrong....or when stupid people cease and desist.

So you want us all to equal the lowest common denominator.
Humans advance usually. Maybe there are some exceptions however.
