"Ignorance is bliss" would be more than applicable.
- You'd be in a fantastical state of mind that does not wish to accept, much less face, the harsh reality of life.
- Your belief of superiority to everyone else... as having been "chosen" by god himself.
- You get a free card to sin and its considered "a period of testing your faith", as you wouldn't have to take responsibility for yourself and your actions, Jesus has already washed away all your sins, all you need to do is say sorry and you're cleared....and coupled with that is the following...
- No matter what you do: steal from people, molest kids, brainwash people through guilt tactics...you're going to have a safe, little spot in a dream place reserved just for you...because you're so special.
There's loads more, but I don't think its necessary to continue.
Would it be considered an improvement?
If you get off by living in a fantasy world, it is.

That is a great question. However, it is not that easy to give an answer. I know that you are a good person with many good values and qualities, and you are a good mother,a wife and a friend to many.
I am not worried about you at all, I mean, I think that you live a very good, meaningful life. However, I cannot start to express the joy, and hope and promise what I have in Christ. I love my life, but this life is not all there is. Belief in God, Jesus Christ, will change your eternal destiny. To believe in God Jesus, to believe He is who He says He is, to believe His Word is true will have a great impact on your life here but not just here, it has an eternal impact too.
" You just need to believe..or have faith in Christ" is far away from " just ". Dismissed as a little thing to do for salvation. We really need to work on it daily. It is not easy to attain. But God has promised to us that if we love Him with all of our heart, and seek Him with all of our heart, He will show up.
He also want to save all of us. He forgives everything we give Him. But if one thinks that one is fine and good and does not need Savior..how can there be forgiveness? All good people do not go to heaven, but all forgiven people go to heaven. We Christians have this hope, because we know that our salvation is not about us. It is about something what Jesus did, and who Jesus is. And from that gratitude we also want to do good. Faith without deeds is dead.
And this decision is something that everyone needs to make for themselves. It is not the easy way, but if it is the only way...I wish everyone took it. In God's court " a criminal " ( I hate to use this word, but the fact is that if you break any laws, you are a lawbreaker, you might be a good person, but you are a law breaker) goes free when we accept Him to help us. And it feels so great to be forgiven. But of course only if one understand that they were not right with God. : )

I can't honestly say it would short term. What belief in God can do is give you a reason to study and learn about your long term purpose for being you. It would also give you a mark of excellence for which to strive and the support needed to reach that mark.

Well, you'd no longer have to feel responsible for the consequences of your actions as you could just "give it over to god". You'd have the false sense of security that comes with believing you're being protected by a higher power. You wouldn't need to burden your intellect with questions about life and the universe because the answers (laughably absurd though they might be) are all provided. You'd have a sense of belonging and community that comes with being in the church.
So, if you're truly capable of deluding yourself, believing in god is really the way to go for an easier life.

Karma Philosophy
There are times when thoughts of distress and tension raise their ugly head. There are situations when a person searches for right answers. Here are some typical examples - Why are we here? Why was I born here and he there? Why is she beautiful and I ugly? Why is so and so crippled for no apparent fault of theirs? Why does the egotistical bully who browbeats his business companions, fiddles his income tax returns and beats his wife, attain outstanding worldly success? Why does the timid, quiet little widow who has never said a harsh word to anyone, live in appalling conditions and die unwanted and uncared for? Why did he have to die? Why did he do that to me? Why is there so much suffering? Why this, why that?
The answers lie in one eternal truth - based on the Law of Karma or the Karma Philosophy - that no one can escape the result of his or her karma. Depending on the bad or good karma or action, one will suffer or enjoy, either in this or the next life. No one can escape the result of his or her karma. The law of Karma is inviolable. So everyone must act with a sense of responsibility. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. So we must acquire right knowledge of what is good and what is bad action. The morale of the story - I have to do right karma for my benefit; it is not for showing it to anyone outside.
Every human action has a moral aspect. If a person's certain act is morally good, the person gets ultimately benefited. If, on the other hand, his acts are morally bad, he suffers. It would require a lot of space to express what is morally good and bad. But in one sentence, it may be said that, if a person acts under the influence of hatred, anger, lies, prejudice, greed, ego, partiality, lust and such other acts under the influence of body-consciousness, then his actions ate bad or negative. These create disharmony and conflict and sufferings in the society. On the other hand, if a person has a balanced judgment, stability of mind, peace of the spirit and acts with the feeling of love, justice, sympathy, humility and the such other actions in soul-consciousness, then his acts are good because such acts promote harmony, peace, unity and happy feelings.
