Don't they trust them to choose their own beliefs on their own?

Jesus loves me, this I know
'Cuz the bible tells me so

This is what they teach their children. It's an admission that faith can't be explained . . . all you can do is quote scripture. Drilling this into young minds that are too immature to understand the concepts they're being taught, helps to ensure that the concepts get internalized before they're understood. This is brainwashing. It helps continue the lie of religion.

Look at Christian answers. It's all based on a closed system of scripture. It's starts with, "God said it -- I believe it". Then it's all self-referential, circular logic from there.

Oh . . . and the fact is they don't really mean it when they say "God said it -- I believe it" -- they're SELECTIVE believers: every last one of them. Always have been. Always will be.

"No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says: He is always convinced that it says what he means." ~George Bernard Shaw

A famous scientist has said "Evolution has been observed. It's just that it hasn't been observed while it was happening."

A statement like that, even from a prominent scientist, isn't it more faith than science?

anyway, I had a site of my own for psychics, I hired her, and then fired her because she was rude, mean and practiced black magic. well, needless to say she got very angry and emailed me and said.

"I put a curse on you, no man will ever want you for the rest of your life, and you are going to die a very fast death in two years"

well, many men want me, im not bragging, its the truth and i wish it wasnt. I stopped wearing make up and fixing my hair for this reason. and that was almost three years ago and I am not dead. so did this not happen because I did not believe her, or is she just another type

I have a problem. Im a christian who has not too long ago gave in to God because my life was going down the drain and i finally gave in and confessed to him , accepted Jesus in my heart. after a while i stopped smoking and drinking it was hard but God really did give me the strength im trying to become a better person.. but i have a problem you see i have a boyfriend that i really truly deeply love with all my heart and he loves me the same.. he is the most caring lovin guy i ever met in my life.. he is close with his family and treats me with respect and is always there for me... i met him before i began this mission to getting closer to God actually he helped me somehow. he lost his virginity with me and i feel so bad now cus now i wished he had kept it.. we have been going out for almost a year and the problem is that my mom does not know anything about it because im scared to let her know im scared she will not accept it .. shes a loving mom but im still afraid to do that.

or any reward at all really (except for, I dunno, the satisfaction of having done *the right thing)

Would you still turn the other cheek if all it meant was you'd have a bruised other cheek, and not a single thing would be divinely accomplished to assuage your discomfort?

the religious concept of God, the abrahamic God ?
Are you only open to the possibility that God might exist but it is nothing like the anthropomorphized God that religions make it to be?
What kind of concept of God would you be open to believe in?

I am back on Moses again. His father-in-law was a Pagan, yet Moses listened to him when he made suggestions. How open are you to non-religious advice from alternative sources?

If you are a Christian, would you listen to a Muslim?
If you are an Atheist, would you listen to a Christian?
etc.
This is for people of all faiths and those without.

We all know, and I assume all Christians know about the God presented in the old testament. Killing children, slavery, torture, etc., is all promoted by your so called loving God.
Kill Homosexuals
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)
Death for Fornication
A priest's daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death. (Leviticus 21:9 NAB)
What is this? This is your God speaking
"Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God." (2 Peter 20-21 NAB)
How come you Xtians ignore this? It is in the Bible.
The God you are imagining is just the way you WANT God
to be, yet He is not.

I see many people(often Atheists)say Christians are brainwashed...

What would they say if I said "Atheists were brainwashed to think that God isn't real"?

They would say, "We're not brainwashed because we know the truth"...but isn't that what Christians say?

Hmm....

The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey is actually a pretty good read. I lost interest at the Book of Bilail though because it stops talking about their philosophy and starts talking about magick and rituals and as I don't believe in magick it was impossible to take it seriously.

I am not a Satanist and I have no interest in becoming one, I am happy being an atheist. I was just wondering if any Christians have actually read the Satanic Bible, particularly the Book of Satan and The Infernal Diatribe as Christians seem set on blaming every misfortune on Satan.

I couldn't help but notice that an unborn child is not equal to or same as the mother's body. The unborn child has his own body... his own heart, his own blood and blood type and so on. So, why all this talk about, "it's my body"? Once a woman becomes pregnant, she has a living body inside of her, connected only through the placenta.

I hear a lot of "keep your religion out of MY laws & MY schools".. they're mine too. I'm not standing here telling you that you have to believe what I believe. I just want the right to be able to say One nation under God & for kids to have the right to talk about God when they're asked by a teacher "what are your views on the war, abortion, abuse, etc".

Why is it that a teacher can say I'm gay & it changed my life!" & his/her job is protected, but if one says "I got saved & it changed my life!" they can be fired? (some of my best friends are gay, they also know that I'm a Christian & we talk about both sides of it without getting pissy).

Christians don't support cloning as a means of scientific research... if cloning was banned, is that Christianity's fault (I personally know non-Christians that also think cloning is wrong)?

Fanatics and unfairness are coming from both sides people. As for me and my house,we will serve the Lord.
