DaughterofIsis

I am not on a "mission" but people who bring up things in answers often don't look back at the questions, so I make new questions so people will see....

I know, a waste of points...but I figure what the heck? I have over 4000

Lol, billy, this isn't a "fan website" for atheism...it's a website for an organization of atheists who get together...(as far as I know only in LA)

Anyway, this is a followup on a question where someone said Atheists don't "seek" each other like Christians do.

steel, I'm not on an Atheist kick(look at my answer to DoI).

Anyway, just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean you should call it stupid.

I don't believe in Macro evolution(where after the dinosaurs the mammals took over rapidly). Micro evolution, the changes we see from generation to generation I believe however.

Anyway, getting back to the point. You don't believe in Christianity and call it stupid...but what would be the difference if I called atheism stupid? Besides the fact more people on here would be upset?

Jason, you weren't the only one lol...this isn't just because of you.

Bgirl, I agree. Also, I guess you've never been to my town lol...we're not very religious here...I mean there are SOME people who are overly religious, but mainly religion isn't that big of a deal around here.

I don't think if I didn't stumble upon this website I wouldn't be as religious as I am now.

I'm not sure why your asking this... I enjoy the company and conversation of other people who are rational thinkers. Meetings like that have been going on for years...

Some atheists 'seek' each other. Others don't. Whoever said that no atheist ever seeks another atheist was clearly wrong.

Why does this matter? In general nearly all people seek other people, but they do so for different reasons.

One of the reasons I hang out here is because of all the other atheists that hang out here. In real life I make no real effort to find other atheists, though most of my close friends are. One of my closest friends is a Christian, and we get along very well.

Oh no, the atheists are getting together! Better warn people!

Define "seek". Please. So what? Atheists have made an organized dedicated to preventing religion being forced down upon us. Have you ever heard "power in numbers"? It's not like we're threatening people with hellfire to convert to us or staging protests at funerals or trying to advocate discrimination.

Atheists don't seek others for the same purpose that Christians do. In regards to your previous questions, we don't try to force others to believe as we do. Promotion isn't the same as trying to actively convert. We're more or less on the defensive side. We're not trying to get believers and make non-believers out of them, we're just trying to defend our right to exist.

Of course there are going to be a few people out there who make a club. And sure.. some people will take a looksy. But it doesnt work with organization and goals as the church does. Atheism, as it stands now, isnt a religion, and most people that are considered atheists dont go out of their way to claim their atheism or meet in public with others.

Personally.. I'd tell ya to get off the Atheist kick... its an aimless point.... your not going to prove anything besides your own stupidty by calling out a "group" of people who back their lives on things that make sense.

The website you gave may be for the Oppressed Atheist`s
I myself have never been contacted or do I wish to organize .
I have been contacted by the Jehovah witness`s every year at my door and numerous times by Christians to Convert or to be saved .
Im sorry I didn`t know about the site ,But as long as people treat unbelievers as a threat ,maybe they feel the need to band together ,,,I DON`T

It's a website. There are millions of websites for all sorts of information. By your logic 'singles' are brainwashed for seeking each other out on the net.
When was the last time someone knocked on your door asking you to become an atheist?

I did not know about this. I didn't know that atheists claim to NOT seek each other out. I've never heard of that before. I love hanging out with fellow atheists. It is no coincidence that my best friends are atheists. I have more in common with them. They never try to change my beliefs (of course, why would they want to change my beliefs since we share them). I've never met a religious person who didn't want to share their beliefs and subsequently engender a meaningful conversion conversation.

It just makes sense that like minded people are attracted to each other.

You can find organizations for anything. People seek out other people. Some atheists have an organization. What percent of atheists belong? Unless it's substantial, you have refuted nothing.

Looks boring. Organizations that are for beliefs are annoying, even if it is my own belief. No interest in this kind of stuff at all, I reach my own conclusion without the help of bunch of people I don't know thank you very much.
