Genesis 6: 1-5

I must admit that the six days of the creation presented some difficulty for me. The apparent logic of conclusions from observations and measurements in various fields of science had previously led me to doubt the little I had known of the Word of God, to the extent that I had agreed with attempts to replace it with an alternative concept of time. But God does not say eons or years or months or weeks—He says days, and we generally understand days to be 24-hour periods.

I then realized that had God wanted to say a billion years rather than six days, He could have said it, very simply, in the way He spoke to Abraham: “I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted” (Gen. 13:16). In the same way He could have said, “I took as many years as there are particles of dust on the earth to create the heavens, the earth, the seas, and all that is in them” and it would have sounded very impressive but He said six days. Would He have said this if it were of no concern?

I now believe that God means literally what He says and writes, and that there is no reason to look for symbolism. The word day is used so often and with such a clear implication of being a normal 24-hour period that to interpret it otherwise requires, to my mind, an unbelievable stretch of the imagination. (See also Jer. 33:20.)

It is also clear to me that if one wishes to believe in the theory of evolution, a great deal of Scripture, including Jesus’ own spoken word (Matt.19:4, 25:34; Mark 13:19; John 5:46–47), has to be discounted. So, whom must we believe, God or man? I believe that God gives us the answer when He says, “Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?” (Isa.2:22).

The theory is that homosexuality is wrong and for it to be wrong, wouldn't it have to be a conscience choice. Another theory is that homosexuality is chemical in which your attraction is guided by your chemical make-up therefore two identical twins can be gay. Now, it seems improbable to me that if to brothers were raised the same way (Christian) that they'd both be gay and keep this secret from each other successfully until coming. In fact, I know a set of twins who are gay and upon all that they have a third brother who is straight. So how can God blame us for the way he made us?

Be serious and intelligent with your answers please.

It's obvious (if you believe that bible type stuff) that everyone came from adam and eve. Also, couldn't you just save some effort and stop at Noah? But really, how likely is it that these people actually found all their ancestors that far back. I'm super skeptical when I hear those things, yet so many proclaim the same thing. Is it a keeping up with the jones's thing, or is it a flat out contest?

Someone said evilbible.com proves that the Bible contradicts itself and that God is not loving... the only thing it proved was that the person who runs it has not idea what they're talking about.

1. The "Rape in the Bible" section. One argument is: Death to the Rape Victim:(Deuteronomy 22:23-24 NAB)
If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.

they say: "It is clear that God doesn't give a damn about the rape victim. He is only concerned about the violation of another mans "property"."

The purpose of that passage is to say that if she LETS him have relations with her, NOT "if he rapes her, they wil both be stoned". Anyone can see that, especially if you read the whole chapter.

Why does my Christian community hate me so much? I think we all know that. Is it wrong to hate them for hating me? Clarification: I do not hate all Christians! Just the ones in my community.

Why are people so full of pride to believe only in things they can see? Have they even read the Bible even once? Open your heart to the truth and to the light of Jesus. Let yourself be saved.

This point hits home with me because I have a family member that has fallen away into the trap of atheism. I pray everyday for them as I pray for you.

May God bless you.

What do you think of this? Does this make it clear that FGM and honor killings are not part of Islam?

"Yet there is a resounding silence when the issue being raised is Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), honor killings, forced marriages, the unequal application of hadd punishments on women, or the denial of education to girls and women. All of these wrongs are perpetrated on women in the name of Islam. While it is true that many of these violations occur across cultural and religious boundaries, the only action often taken by conservative Muslims is a condemnation of the action because it is "cultural" and not Islamic. Meanwhile, women continue to be murdered and little girls continue to be mutilated.

This is not to say that conservative Muslims are always silent or keep their opposition at the vocal level. In Jordan, conservative Muslims joined with liberals to rally for stricter punishments for men who kill in the name of honor.

I think it fair to say the majority of that percentage believes in religous dogma. Looks like Young Earth Creationsist are running rampant nowdays. You would have figured the theory of evolution would have exterminated this primitive species. What is it with supestituous people are they like cockroaches or something. Now matter how far we come we just cannot seem to get rid of them? Christians are very smart people, so we know it`s not a matter of intelligence. Then what is it? The fear of Death? Wanting to believe in something? If you ask a theist if they believe in Zeus or Thor or the Native American Rain, Earth, and Sun Gods - they will be quick to tell you those Gods were ancient superstitions. Why don`t they realize that Christianity is just one of these old ancient superstitions? What`s really going on here?

I mean, looking back on history......all the religion and spiritual things of the "bible" don't exactly click together.
